Myles Turner has revealed on a podcast that discipline at the Bucks went down the gurgler under Doc Rivers, with players late to the plane, late to training, late for film...and no consequences or repercussions. And apparently the biggest culprit was the biggest name player on their roster - Giannis.

Quote
Bucks center Myles Turner detailed a lack of discipline under Doc Rivers, saying the former Milwaukee coach "didn't fine anybody." Turner also singled out Giannis Antetokounmpo for taking advantage of the situation, noting that the franchise star would "show up whenever he wants."

"Guys were late all the time," Turner told New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart on their "Game Recognize Game" podcast. "Guys were showing up to film whenever they wanted to show up. Guys were missing meetings. It was one of the craziest things I personally ever experienced."

Asked by Stewart who was most likely to be late last season, Turner said it was an "easy" answer.

"Giannis. Giannis is going to show up whenever he wants, really," Turner said. "I think that this kind of just came with the territory that -- and once I saw what was going down, I was like, 'Hey man, more power to you. They ain't going to fine you. S---, do what you do.'"

"It was crazy, dawg," he said. "Guys were an hour late to the plane. It got to the point where I knew not to show up until an hour after they said the plane was taking off. It was crazy."

"Any other team I've been on, guys got fined. And there was a sense of order and a sense of understanding," Turner said on the podcast. "So yeah, you're late to the plane? Fine. You're late to treatment? Fine. You're late to film? Fine. But I personally did not experience that last year for the first time in my career. So we'll see what Taylor Jenkins does, our new coach."

That corroborates the league's story when it investigated Giannis' claims that the Bucks wouldn't let him play.

Careful what you wish for with Giannis, man.  I know it's a yearly tradition around here to trade JB for the newest disgruntled star but there are red flags all over this dude.

I'd like to add, he's been dealing with his own calf issues the last few years as well. That feels like a ticking time bomb too, equivalent to a high-velocity baseball pitcher getting elbow injuries and then ultimately needing TJS later on.

A Google search doesn't turn anything up. It also shows that not many players have been fined by their teams where this has been made public - the ones that I found were:

- Ben Simmons (2021-22) - fined by Philly for not turning up to work
- Jimmy Butler (2025) - fined by Miami for conduct detrimental to the team
- Cryrie (2021-22) - fined by Brooklyn for vaccine non-compliance
- Ja Morant - various incidents over various years

I would imagine most teams would not publicize fines for missing team meetings, flights, film sessions or the like in-house and not broadcast it to the public, so it's possible that Celtics players have been fined by the team during Joe's tenure and we just never found out about it. It's just that Myles is airing out dirty laundry on this podcast (which made me think he might be angling for a trade). I would imagine that the Celtics, (presumably) being a more professionally run team, would probably want to avoid any of their own dirty laundry coming out. They don't seem to be the type to do public disciplinary theater  :police:

It's not like JB is any better. Going on Streams and pretty much throwing his teammates and front office under the bus. There are videos from last all-star break where JB was on some podcast or something , talking ish about Brad Stevens because of playing Gordon Hayward( a vet  former all-star. Who had a big contract) over him..

Gannis is the better player makes us a title contender.

There are risks with Giannis, add this to the list, the diva factor.  He definitely feels that he is entitled to special treatment.  He is certainly not alone, but I would rather see less of it from him or any player.  Brown seems to have his issues also but it has never affected what he does on the court, at least not in my mind, and I don't think it would with Giannis.

There is another thing with divas in all sports, they tend to behave for a while when they get to a new team.  Diggs is a really good example.  He came to New England, he didn't act up, but if he stays, eventually he will.  I don't think Giannis or Brown are as much of a diva as Diggs, just using him to illustrate a point.  I predict that if Giannis did end up on BOS, he would be all business, at least for a while.
