There's no way the Celtics should have to trade Jaylen, picks AND Queta + Hugo in a trade for Giannis, unless maybe there was another player coming back in addition.

I would try to sign someone with the MLE (guard or wing), and then trade Hauser + a future 2nd rounder for someone like Bitadze. And honestly, if someone like Garza is fine coming back on the vet. minimum, he can come back as a 4th big and just someone to eat up regular season minutes.

That team loses in the first or second round though.  I'd rather take a big swing.

I wouldn't care that much about Queta, who showed in the playoffs that he's quite bad at playoff basketball.  I also wouldn't care about the #27 pick, or next year's pick.

I am pretty in on JB for Giannis but that includes all of our other valuable assets with JB and I think leaves us pretty thin which would be troublesome come playoff time and during the season. That probably is a bit too much for me. Including the picks is fine but Hugo and Queta I think could help this team win it all so would not want to deal them. I also think calling Queta bad at playoff basketball is a bit much. He was one of the only positive starters out there. He just was in foul trouble and going against Embiid doesn?t help there. But I think he still showed he could be a good playoff contributor in my opinion at least. Now if you want to say he not the best big to have with Giannis then I agree but then I would want to trade him separately for other assets as opposed to including in the Giannis trade.

If we got offered Herro, Jaquez, Ware and #13 for Brown, I'd seriously consider.

Wondering what the new-look Celtics team would be:

G: D White, Pritchard
G: T Herro, Baylor
F: (FA), J Walsh, Hugo
F: Tatum, J Jaquez
C: Queta, Ware

That 2nd forward slot alongside Tatum would be a problem.

Jaquez puts up good numbers (15ppg 5rpg 5apg 28mpg) but he is still a poor jump-shooter and a so-so defender. He does his best work off the bench as an undersized PF attacking guys when he has a quickness advantage. He also benefited hugely from Miami's new offensive system with how they pushed the ball and space the floor. No PnRs. Just movement. BOS with their PnR / iso heavy perimeter orientated 3 point heavy offense wouldn't work as well for him.

Note: About 350 of Jaquez' 450 made shots last year came within 10 feet of the rim (78% of his offense). His game is at the rim. Driving to the rim. He doesn't have a reliable jump-shot. That is a dangerous number for a perimeter player. You want to have Giannis level athleticism / Zion level athleticism to make yourself impossible to stop from getting to the rim. Jaquez doesn't have that. He can be stopped. His scoring can be turned off particularly in the playoffs.

K Ware is an interesting young big man who posts strong per minute numbers but his impact is far less than his numbers. He doesn't impact the game defensively much at all despite his size & athleticism. He is largely peripheral on offense despite being a great rim-runner threat and an occasional three point threat. I don't think Ware can beat out Queta for the starting job. I don't think Ware can defend a guy like Embiid. Still, there is potential there. Upside. I am not optimistic about him fulfilling it because his development thus far has been extremely disappointing. I think he ends up more as a journeyman. A few years as a starter. Most of his career off the bench. He could be so much more than that though.

The #13 pick could net a rotation caliber player. A quality bench player to starting caliber player. That could be useful.

Tyler Herro is the main piece in the deal. I like Herro but I like him more as a 3rd option behind JB and JT than a 2nd option. He is a wonderful jump-shooter and solid ball-handler & passer. His poor defense still negates a large chunk of his offensive contributions.

I love how people throw around Brown and like 3 1sts and Hugo to get Giannis, but then you see the Heat offer....and its like Hero, Ware, this year's late lottery and 2 future firsts.

Those values are NOWHERE close to one another

I wouldn't. I don't think Herro is a good centerpiece in this kind of deal. After watching him play for years, I just don't see him as a top 3 player on a competing team. His defense is truly atrocious.

Ware is fine. He will be a decent starting center for years. But 13 isn't exactly life changing. This draft is very good, but its not like thats an elite prospect spot.

Yeah, I would not do that. Herro is horrible defensively, Jaquez is a role player and Ware is very inconsistent at this point. Spo only played him 20 mins per game last season.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

That Heat offer is stinking garbage for Giannis, and I don't like it for Brown either.

Herro does not play D, Jaquez has athletic limitation but plays hard, is Ware better than Queta?

Who would you pick at 13?

When all the smoke clears I hope we end up keeping Hugo. I just think the kid will be special.

I agree. He has basketball intelligence well beyond his years. He just needs to keep improving as a shooter.

What does "special" mean, in terms of player projections or anticipated future production?
