Myles Turner?
His stats this year.
PTS 11.9
REB 5.3
AST 1.5
FG% 44.0
How does a guy that big shoot that poorly from the field. I know he takes some threes. His 3P was good at 38% but he is not worth this kind of money:
2026-27: $26,584,164
2027-28: $27,850,077
2028-29: $29,115,990 (Player Option)
I think Myles pulled a "Mark Blount" and played less hard once he got paid.
I think a big draw to Portis is he has an edge to him. No one is going to bully him or his team mates.
I have read CLE has a better offer with Evan Mobely. Haslam probably knows Dan Gilbert to both owning CLE franchises, so that may help them as well.
Yeah, I like M Turner. He has never been an energetic big. His rebounding numbers have always been low. But he has been a plus player both offensively and defensively. He protects the rim well. He can defend out on the floor in the PnR. His shooting is a major asset on offense. He is one of the best shooting bigs in the league.
At 5.4 three point attempts per game, the only centers who took more 3s than him were Naz Reid (more of a combo PF/C) and Wemby. Okongwu another PF/C like Naz Reid took 5.2. Jokic took 4.5. Towns 4.1. B Lopez 4.2 in less minutes (only 22mpg). Vucevic also took 4.2. So M Turner has volume & accuracy (38.9%).
I think his lower FG% this season is more about the team he is on. They did not create as many good looks for him as Indiana did. Indiana had a great offense and one of the premier passers in the league in Haliburton. Milwaukee had poor guard play and outside of Giannis they were limited in terms of their passing ability. And Giannis only played half a season (36 games). So M Turner had less easy looks this season than before. I expect his FG% would go back up if he was on a good team again.
So I am not that bothered by the decline in his numbers. I still think M Turner is a plus defender and a plus offensive player. A minus rebounder.
