Earlier this month, NBA insider Marc Stein called the Celtics to keep an eye on Antetokounmpo if he is made available by the Celtics. On Monday, NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that the Celtics are expected to ask Giannis if he wants to sign an extension, and he will turn it down, essentially forcing the Celtics to trade him with one year remaining on his current deal.

Assuming the asking price for Antetokounmpo is a young talent and draft capital, the Celtics may need to get a third team involved to land Antetokounmpo. The Celtics would seemingly have to deal Jaylen Brown to get Antetokounmpo, but the Bucks may not want to take on his contract if they are rebuilding.

Giannis is going to force himself to go where he wants to sign the extension. Whichever team gets him then an extension is coming. No one is trading for him without that.

If he is dealt to Boston we can assume this is where he wants to be and he pushed his way here, meaning the extension will happen.

If he goes elsewhere, that is where he wants to be.

Still do not think the Cs are a player in this. Think they keep Brown and use their MLE and BLE to add a center and guard. Vuc walks. They extend Brown, Queta and PP and run it back. I just do not see big moves made this offseason.

Probably a top 4 or 5 seed next year and out in the first or second round. 2027 is the big summer they are working towards.

I hesitant to put much stock in this. Firstly, whether the report is accurate. Secondly, whether Giannis can have his mind changed in conversations between the team and Giannis.

I am unsure why Giannis wouldn't want to sign a contract with BOS. What is he looking at that is better? Is it a warm weather market that he wants? To play in the mecca of MSG in NY? I'd like to know more about why he passed on signing an extension with BOS.
