so, Cooper Flagg and Browns contracts both run out in 28-29, if Flagg demands trade before that time or what if they both run out and we simply sign Flagg at that time. Brad can make sure we have the space at end of 29 to do this.

I would not trade Brown for many in this league though. Every day, all I see are ludicrous trade proposals. Butler for Brown has to be the the worst trade proposal I have ever heard in my life. Hell, why not trade Brown to the Lakers for Lebron. LOL...

Cleveland Cavaliers. Eastern Conference executive: ?The playoffs will be a factor, but they are expensive and might need to turn over everything. Donovan Mitchell could be a trade guy, Evan Mobley could be traded, Jarrett Allen. They have a lot of good pieces, but they?re expensive andis that what Boston wants??

This is interesting.  Who's more valuable, Mitchell or Brown?

Which team would need to send extra (beyond just making the numbers work) to make the "value" equitable?

Brown will likely be 1st Team All-NBA, Mitchell will be 2nd Team.

Brown has a championship, Finals MVP, etc.  His health has been relatively good.  Mitchell has been ok.

Mitchell is definitely more "clutch" and can create better on his own.  Brown has shown real leadership this year and excelled all around, especially on defense.

I?d consider it, but Mitchell is a 6?1 shooting guard. Smaller players typically struggle in the playoffs. His teams usually lose second round. He is elite offensively, though.

Mitchell, White, Hauser, Tatum, Queta.. I could probably live with that.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Cavs need to send something. That?s my guess anyway. Defense.

Donovan Mitchell has been disappointing in this year's playoffs. His scoring has dropped from 28ppg to 24ppg. His FG% has dropped from 48.3% to 44.4%. His 3PT shooting has dropped from 36.4% to 32.9%. His FTA have dropped from 6.1 to 3.0 per game.

His passing hasn't been good either. Routinely missing teammates. Only 2.9 assists a game. Down from 5.7apg in the regular season.

It feels like D Mitchell needs to convert from a SG to a full time PG for this next 5+yr period in his career. The league is getting more and more brutal for small guards. He has decent size for a PG. Average height but a strong frame.

However, mentally / psychologically, he appears to be going the other way. He wants to score more / shoot more and pass less. Harden was meant to empower him as a scorer. Instead it has made him more selfish and less effective. That has been disappointing too.

Mitchell and White backcourt. Donovan guards the opposing PG, Derrick the SG. Could that work? Do you think Mitchell would be accepting of being a second option? He?s going to be 30 this year and hasn?t been able to do much in the playoffs.

Oh absolutely. D White is about as ideal a backcourt mate as you can find to pair with D Mitchell.

I am not sure D Mitchell would be the 2nd option. He is a much more talented offensive player than Jaylen because of his superior ball-handling and playmaking. He directly competes with Tatum. They are at about the same level. At times Mitchell outplays Tatum (offensively only). At other times Tatum outplays Mitchell. It would not be a clear first option second option situation. You would have two first options.

I am not sure Mitchell would accept being a 2nd option to anyone. He is such a confident player. I see more like Iverson. Maybe Shai? I can't see D Mitchell thinking any other perimeter player is better than he is. Ant-man. Kawhi. Durant. Brunson. Maxey. D Booker. D Mitchell will feel he is every bit as good as they are. I am sure he thinks the same about Tatum (especially in an offensively-only context). Maybe Luka. Ha, it's hard to get the ball off Luka enough to challenge him as the first option.

I would worry about D Mitchell's continued effectiveness and health moving into his 30s. As his athleticism declines, his lack of size will become more problematic. I wonder if this year's poor playoff performances from him are the first stage of that.
