Jaylen is a first team NBA caliber guy in his prime. It should take a godfather type offer - promising young players, lucrative draft capital, and solid rotational pieces to pry him away from Boston. In no world am I trading him for an aging player who can?t stay on the court in Giannis

Not really. Jaylen might make this season but this is an outlier. He is unlikely to ever make the First Team All NBA ever again. He is not even a clear cut All NBA second team guy (top 10 player in the league). He is more generally in that 10-20 range somewhere with opinions varying. That is where his trade value is.

How about this 3 way trade

BOS - Giannis
CLE - Brown
MIL - Mobley, Merrill, Hugo, 27, 29, BOS 27 1st

Do trade after draft so Boston can trade the 27 1st.  So Boston trade Brown Hugo, and 2 late 1st's for Giannis.  Seems reasonable.  Cleveland trades Mobley, Merrill, and a late 1st for Brown, which seems reasonable if they go all in around Mitchell and Harden. Milwaukee gets a 24 year old DPOY, 3 1st's, a recent 1st, and a decent youngish role player. Seems reasonable.

No idea if even any teams would do that, but it does seemingly fit what all those teams might do this summer.

Not sure I wouldn?t rather have Mobley, Merrill, and two firsts.  This over giving up Hugo and a first, on top of Brown.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Yeah, I don't think any GM really rates Jaylen as a top 5 or 6 guy, but if they do, then that bodes really well for us. He's not even 30, has 3 years left on his deal, is generally healthy, and highly motivated.

The ending to the year might have been a major disappointment, but Jaylen's performance during the regular season might have tricked somebody into thinking he was a superstar. We weren't having Giannis or even Mobley discussions with Jaylen last year because that would have been an impossibility.

Some of the folks here are overrating Jaylen Brown really hard. If he was so godly-tiered, he'd already be all-nba first team, NBA MVP, Olympic gold medalist champion etc.

He's essentially the Paul George or maybe a Khris Middleton with a higher athletic ceiling.

But ofc, when the going gets tough for him (no Tatum in Game 7s) when it really matters, he succumbs.

Thus, I'd like to trade him for Giannis.

Murray, Valanciunas for Brown, Garza

My first reaction is no to Jamal Murray for Jaylen but I am curious enough to wonder what our team might look like with J Murray.

G: J Murray, Pritchard
G: D White, Baylor
F: Hauser, Hugo
F: Tatum, J Walsh
C: Queta, Jonas Valanciunas

Jonas Valanciunas is a worse version of what Vucevic is. I'd rather just keep Vucevic. Vooch is actually more mobile defensively than Jonas is. Jonas would give us a bit more post D and rim protection but not enough to tilt in his favour. Especially given Vucevic is much better offensively. I'd rather just keep Vooch.

I had no idea Jonas Valanciunas fell off a cliff that bad. Just a few years ago he was a solid big man some of us wished we had.
