The Athletic just released its player poll, and Sengun won the most overrated player title by a wide margin, garnering 12.3% of votes.  Reading some posts in this thread I think the players are onto something.

I'm guessing there are two reasons for this. One is reality, and the other is human.

First, he's a high usage, mid-efficiency big that's not great at defense.

Second, he's kinda' dorky looking and the way he moves is a bit annoying.

One of the comments shown in the article was by a player criticizing Sengun for crying to the refs on every play. Just shut up and play hard was the sentiment. Sick of his on-court attitude.

He has a good defensive rating.    He was the worst defender of the Houston starters with the least effect on/off.

I do think he is pesky but struggles with lateral movement.  But you could say that on half the bigs in the league.

I would prefer  Bam Abedayo, over him, if we made a deal but the additional parts with Segun trade could be better.

Our problem is often missing threes, we need different options on offense.  Other teams have this option.   We may but never use it to the extreme.   It was horrible watch our guy bombs three, miss, and watch Philly expend he lead with a flexible offense.

We have had a ton of goofy looking guys who were good players.   McHale looked like he should have bolts in his neck.   Joker is another example of a guy who looks goofy.  Looks don't matter in basketball.

He should go to the Lakers or Sixers. Embiid and LeBron are the kings of whining.
