No way Brown for Sengun. Sengun + something, maybe.  White for Sengun is more realistic.

Combining rumors

Bos sends JB
Bos gets giannis

Mil sends : Giannis
Mil gets. : Sengun

Houston sends :Sengun
Houston gets : Brown

I would be happy with either sengun or Giannis.  Although Sengun in much younger,  so you might want to aim for him more out of the deal...

This is an interesting proposal that makes some sense for all sides. I think both Houston and Boston have to throw a little something else in there for Milwaukee to make it work. Just depends on what Milwaukee?s view of Sengun is.

People apparently view Sengun much higher than I do.  I have him at something a little less than Domantas Sabonis, but in that range, which means a good solid big, but quite a bit less than Brown.

Sengun + Something for Brown?  Sure.  MIL would ask for Sengun + a lot more for Giannis.

I prefer trading Brown for Giannis, even if it means Brown + Something.

It's interesting, but wouldn't Houston just rather have Giannis than Jaylen? They already have an aging KD, I'd imagine they'd be going all in on the next couple of years with a Sengun trade and Giannis gives them a better opportunity than Jaylen.

Sure, offer Jaylen for Giannis - I'd rather have Giannis, too - but if it's a no, then call HOU and leave MIL out of it. They likely would just shut us out of discussions and make their own deal without us.

Do that deal in a heartbeat. Guys who are willing to attack the rim and crash boards

You don't trade an All-NBA first team player, and a previous finals MVP and champion, for a guy like that.

I like Sengun, but the sourness of our fanbase needs to settle down a bit.

I agree. I also think people are making way too much of JBs interview.  He's bound to be emotional after a loss.  I wish he hadn't said the things he said, but I don't think it's a reason to shop him.  He's put up with trade rumors and people questioning if he could play along JT since he's been here and come through more often than not.  Winning two championship is TOUGH - see the last 7 years.  I know we've underachieved in the playoffs recently but I'd change the coach before I trade JB.

Sengun is 23. He averaged basically 20/9/6 with 3.2 turnovers per game playing for one of the worst offensive coaches ever.

Brown has never averaged more than the 5.1 apg he had this year and he did that on 3.6 tpg.  Brown scored more, but also shot more.  They have similar points per shot.

Sengun is 6 years younger and doesn't play the same position as Boston's best player.  Brown was better this year, but I'm not so sure he will be next year or any year in the future.

Also because Sengun makes about 20 million less, it wouldn't be a 1 for 1 trade though the tax implications make it hard to work out a trade.  This one works before the season flips.

Sengun, Finney-Smith, Sheppard

for

Brown, Garza, Scheierman

Not sure Houston does that, but it at least makes sense for both teams.

I am just calling it as I am seeing it.  In terms of trade market value, this is how I see it:

Giannis > Brown > Sengun

I get that due to contract value, there would never be a 1 for 1 trade of Brown for Sengun.  With Sengun making about $21M less, there would be the question of what BOS could do with the remaining salary.  Brown for Sengun + Some $20M'ish player is potentially a good deal.

The more philosophical question is whether it is better to have one really good player like Brown, albeit imperfect, or two lesser players. In the old days, the answer to this was always that in the NBA, you want the one better player.  You don't trade a dollar for (4) quarters.  But with the new CBA rules that are in place today, I am not so sure that this is the case.

I love Jaylen Brown, and I don't think we should trade him unless it increases the talent level of our team.

Sengun would be a step down in talent.

I recognize the problem with viewing this like that is that there aren't any players better than Brown that are available.

I think the questions are

1. How much of a step down?
2. How much longer will brown be better?
3. Would Boston be better with a massive upgrade down low as opposed to the better player at the wing?
4. Do the extra player or two Hosuton has to send make up the current talent difference between Brown and Sengun?

All fair questions. I guess I just don't love the archetype of player Sengun is either. I think for bigs to be his level defensively, they need to be offensive Savants. Sengun would have to make a step or two with his shooting prowess to even come close to having him on the floor in a high stakes series.

I'm not a GM. I can't detach myself and fanhood from these players.

The way Brown battled Embiid in game 7 endeared me to him. I freaking love that guy and would legit be upset if he was traded.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't love any new players or trust Stevens basketball mind.

I just freaking love Jaylen Brown. One more made shot and the narrative completely shifts from the Celtics falling apart to the heroic way Brown propelled the Cs to a victory without Jayson Tatum and without bigs that could stay on the court.

Sengun does not make 3s.  That limits his offensive threat.  He can still score, he found a way to average 20 pts this season, but if the picker in the pick and role isn't a threat to make a 3, it allows the defense to play it differently.

I don't disagree that BOS needs to add a reliable big.  Sengun is a solid big.  He is not as good as Brown though, at least I don't see it that way.

HOU needs to win now.  They traded a good young player for Durant.  I offer them White, which probably is not enough but start the discussion there.

Not Dorian Finney Smith and Reed Sheppard. Jabari Smith Jr or Tari Eason make it a lot more appealing

Sheppard has by far the most value and upside of those 4 players.  I don't think it is particularly close either.
