This is who the team is. They shoot threes, because they've never (even when Tatum is healthy and at his peak) had that truly elite can't be stopped offensive player.

Again, they have ONE guy who can pressure the rim. ONE on the entire team when Tatum is out.

Agreed. This is what the roster is. This is how the team has been built. To play this strategy.

This is not Mazzula-ball. This is Stevens-ball.

It's both.  It's definitely Mazzula ball.  He has the power to call plays, to draw up ATO plays, and to coach them into a more aggressive offense that at least gets the ball towards the paint to get it to shift.  You can post JB.  You could post Vuc, and also Tatum when he's healthy.  But he'd rather have subpar 3 point shooters take step back 3's, iso 3's, early shot clock 3's.  It's Mazzula ball.

I agree it is both but I believe it is more Stevens than Mazzula.

It will be interesting to see Mazzula coach another team in NBA someday and see if he goes with as an extreme a strategy as he has done here in BOS.

If Mazzula does leave, I expect Stevens will replace him with another similarly minded coach who buys into the high volume 3 point shooting strategy.

It feels organizational more than coaching. It reminds me of Houston when Daryl Morey was there and he was constantly urging them to push the boundaries of how many 3 pointers they could take. Same thing with Stevens now in Boston.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Unless there?s a proximate foul we didn?t see at first, this is a total  waste of a challenge and gives Embiid a rest. Just another dumb foul

Imagine if this team didn't take the 3rd quarter off every game

Wait, did we literally challenge that?? Is the idea that Hauser was grabbing the shirt first and the foul should be on him to save Queta or what?? No way you seriously watch that and challenge it.

Why challenge that? Queta clearly hit Maxey on the arm. Unless somebody pushed Queta into him that's a 0% chance.

We have all of the momentum, but that really gummed it up.  Bad, bad challenge.

Man going back a few plays though, that block by JB on Embiid.  That was something else.  Got him back for dirty plays and trash talk.
