How about the Cs defense....

It has been incredible.  Our only bad game was against Denver.

Allowed 89 points against the Lakers
81 against the Suns
111 against the Nets (but scored 148)
98 against the 76ers
81 against the Bucks

Average 92 points  allowed against these opponents.  Even if you count the Denver loss still only allowing 94 points on average per game.

It's crazy to me Doc is still just there coaching. They fired the previous guy after a 30-13 start for like no reason but Doc gets so much leeway and he's clearly not making it easy for Giannis to want to stay lol

Hugo with a casual 18/16 with 3 steals and 2 blocks, a day after Queta had 27/17. Wow!

And that's with Giannis on the court too.

Giannis is a HUGE baby....He yells every time he's in the paint, begging for a foul call...what a crybaby.

I am curious if Hugo can sneak on an all rookie team.

You would think Flagg, Harper, Edgecombe, Knueppel, Coward & Queen would be locks. That leaves four spots available.

Hugo.  Who is this guy ??

For that matter, who are all these unknown guys wearing Celtic jerseys and playing like solid NBA starters ?

Down 2 starters (including one of the unknowns, Queta) and we handle Milwaukee on the road easily on a second night game.

I am impressed.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett - Tatum

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce - Brown

Vucevic really feels like another Horford off the bench, which is nice especially with Queta growing into a young starter. Vucevic is capable of dominating second units too if he wants to. Doesn't need to today.

I hope he has a few more good years left in him. He can be a great asset during these next few years of the Brown/Tatum title window.

This team is so plug and play now. Two starters out, plug two guys in. Hugo is growing by leaps and bounds. So smooth around the basket. He's going to be a future star. Really liking Scheierman's game right now too. Joe is making all the right moves. Everybody is playing as a team. Very impressive to watch.

Impressive win. Back to back with travel missing 3 players. If Joe isn't Coach of the Year, something is wrong.

Forget the scoring...their defense and hard work are impressive.

On thing I continue to think about is what will be the starting line up if Tatum returns (not short term, but in the playoffs).

Feel like Vuc and PP are going to be coming off the bench for the playoffs.

I'd like to see a starting 5 for the playoffs of

White
Baylor
JB
JT
Queta

Vuc, PP, Hauser and Hugo as your playoff bench. Maybe with a splash of Walsh.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Hugo on the post-season Draft Steals list.  probably hasn't played enough to get that top honor but if he keeps playing like this through the rest of the season (not necessarily the same numbers as tonight but double figure scoring possibly, 4-5 rebounds and 1+ steal per game) he should be in the discussion.  I think in 3-4 years he'll be regarded as the biggest steal of Brad's tenure.

there'll probably be more than a splash of Walsh to spell Tatum at the PF slot and to probably take the tougher forward defensive assignment from Tatum when they're on the floor together.

I will say that with the in-season improvements from Baylor, Hugo and Walsh, the roster is looking like a pretty good playoff team with the addition of Tatum.  Would have liked to have kept Minott as another player off the bench but we have who we have.

This is what Brad and Joe need to be given a lot of credit for. Whether you like their offensive and defensive philosophy or not, they know exactly the types of players they need for the way they want to play (offensively they want floor spacers, bigs who can effectively run pick and roll, players who can drive and kick to put other teams in rotation and find open shots on the perimeter, and players brave enough to take open 3s whether they make them or not, and players who will attack the boards offensively and defensively; and defensively they want players who can switch on the perimeter, make the right reads in deciding to help or not, attack passing lanes to create turnovers, and pressure the ball carrier and the point of attack).

And they know how to fit those players into the scheme so that ultimately it does become a plug-and-play type team, where we sit Jaylen and Hugo steps in, we sit White and PP steps in, we sit Q and Vuc (who himself has only been in the team for a few weeks) steps in and each player amplifies the team but the team is not built around any one player's skills. They're all good at making the right reads and making decisions on the spot, rather than playing to a specific set of plays like a "traditional" team where the coach is always yelling instructions on the sideline.
