Gotta love burying these guys on Pat Riley's Day.

The thing I hate most about Riley, along with people like Phil Jackson and Jamal Wilkes among others is their refusal to admit that the Celtics were the better team and that they were beaten, fair and square. I remember a bizarre quote from Phil Jackson commenting on his playing days with the Knicks, "We didn't have trouble handling the Celtics"? Huh ? You never beat Russell in the late 60's and you won one playoff series in 1973 after Havlicek was injured on a dirty play by Dave Debuscher. The next season we kicked your ass in the ECF 4-1. Of course, Jackson could be thinking of the Celtics two rebuilding seasons after Russell's retirement, which I wouldn't take any great pride in. Pat Riley is just as bad. He is still bitter about losing to the Celtics repeatedly both as a player and a coach. I always hated that the Lakers did not make the finals in 1986 to take the beating they deserved. They only beat us in the 80's when we had a starter out with an injury, Max in '85 along with Bird's busted shooting hand and half the team on one leg in '87.

And let?s not forget Riley not even having the guts to get his team to the finals in 86 and take his beating like a man. I still say to this day he knew his team was cooked in 86 against the C?s and was the happiest guy in America losing the WCF to the Rockets. Truly pathetic. I don?t care how good Akeem was. Now he doesn?t have that loss on his record. And make no mistake, the 86 Celtics were on a mission to crush LA.

The best play of the game might?ve been when Doncic fell after a missed 3pt attempt and just sat on the floor whining to the ref while Gonzalez got out on the break for an easy layup. That guy is such a baby.

Awesome to see LeBron shouting out JB for MVP!  It's about time the rest of the league gets behind this.

BTW, going to throw this out there, if JB wins MVP, what do you think that does to the JT/JB dynamic?  Any jealousy because of the missed year?  Any trade requests maybe since it could be JB's team?  Just thinking out loud here!

no trade requests likely.  if, and it's a HUGE IF, JB wins the MVP this season, it'll be very well-earned for raising the level of his game and carrying this team to a top record in the league after losing 5 rotation players from last year (Tatum still counts as a loss even if he manages to come back late this season) while not having the luxury of the other top MVP contenders that have another all-star caliber player on their team.  We hoped White would take that step this year but he just hasn't.  PP as stepped up after a bad start but every other MVP candidate has a teammate better than either of those guys this season.

JT and JB has played together very well during their time in the league.  no reason it shouldn't continue.  JT is seen as the star (and he truly is better than JB) but this season has allowed JB to shine and show he hasn't been riding JT's coattails to success and he really has been more of an equal partner (or close to it) in the team's success.  JB should be able to accept the accolades this year and be able to co-exist just as well if not better with JT going forward.
