The Boston Celtics are trading Josh Minott to the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN.

Even Brooklyn wouldn't take Tillman, huh?  Lol.

I'll miss Minott.  He can play.

This trade I am curious.   I imagine the the Nets need to give up a actual small piece.

Getting rid of the deadweight to create roster spots and better opportunities through the buyout.

How many more end of the rotation guys do they need to offload in order to get under the tax line?

Presumably something that can be attached to Tillman.

I had the same thought.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We are low on 2nds and I really hope we can hang on to that Bucks pick this year - at least so we can trade it for a couple of future 2nds.

Minott is a decent enough player, but hard to get draft capital when you are the one initiating what are basically desperation trades. X hasn?t been good in years. I can?t imagine who would take him for free

My calculations might be wrong, but I believe if the Celtics trade Tillman, fill two of their four open spots with rookies (presumably Williams (who may already have signed) and Shulga), stay at 13 roster spots for the allowed maximum of 14 days, and then sign one more rookie, they will wind up $8k under the tax.

His body language out there seemed terrible lately

Happy him and Boucher are gone

Afreed.  He looked very lost in his brief appearances.

I didn't expect this one, particularly because he had gotten at least token playing time after what supposedly was a long absence due to an ankle injury.  I thought he would get some ninth-man time, at least.  I hope there's a plan for the open roster spots beyond a cost savings.

I think he just got passed by three Celtics draft picks and there was not longer a great need for a very small ball C.
