Celts are also now only $5.9 million above the tax.

Does dumping Boucher, Tillman and Minott get us there (with us signing replacements via the pro-rated minimum)?

I think the pro-rated contracts would take us above the tax, although maybe not if two of them were Williams and Shulga.  It might come down to Derrick White meeting an incentive.

So we now have Luka and Nikola  :) Seriously though, I like the deal. No doubt we'll miss Simons. He played well and was a consummate professional through all the rumors. But this is the right move.

Do we think the Celtics have any intention at re-signing him to a Horford-esque deal? Maybe give him a couple final years to his career competing as a 6th big type of big?

Or am I over-analyzing and it's just one expiring guard for another expiring big?

So this move definitely points to Tatum returning at some point this season now, right?

I?m not sold on this at all, but let?s see what happens. I?m OK with him being a back up for Queta, at least he offers a different look to either Q or Garza. I know he?s getting paid a lot more than Q, but I would be surprised if they elevated him into the starting lineup given how much of a positive plus minus Q has been.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I guess in theory it could simply be a bit of a salary dump and to have Vuc's Bird rights, but I think you're probably right.

Yes. Don't make this move sending out scoring if you don't have a good feeling JT is close to returning. Brad just constructed a legit playoff starting 5 if JT returns

I think that that is the hope, yes.

It would be great if we could add another scorer off the bench to replace Simons.  Who is out there?

I think this is an area of need, now, for sure.

What kind of move do we make for a PG now? If White or PP gets hurt (or takes a night off), we're awfully thin. What's happening with Conley?

Must get some bench ball handling/scoring to go with Queta, Walsh, Hauser, Hugo and Baylor.

IF JT returns for the playoffs...rotation would probably be 8 deep with Hauser, Queta and whatever guard/wing you sign or trade for.

Mike Conley is likely to hit the buyout market after being traded from the Timberwolves to the Bulls.

In what many believe is Conley?s final NBA season, he could look to join a title contender or retire with the Grizzlies for a farewell tour.

Every time we faced Vuc I thought he was pretty awful, so I?m gonna stay consistent and say I?m not thrilled with the acquisition and not just jump for joy now that he?s a Celtic?hopefully I?m wrong

Meh - that was not the big man upgrade I was hoping for, but I?ll take it, especially without losing an 1st. Interested to see what Joe will do with Vuc?s game.

But, man, we sure do love them white NBA players, eh? 😂

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
