Ugg - really wanted us to get in on JJJ, even though he isn't my favorite player. I thought he would fit the roster well.

Memphis now has 13 firsts in the next 7 years.

They are tied with Brooklyn and OKC.

Utah finally did it and transitioned from the perpetual tank job.

That said - don?t they owe their pick this year to OKC if not top 8 or something like that? I guess they?re just giving up on that quest for now, or do they think they can still strategically rest guys the rest of the way to stay at 8 or under? I think they?re the 6th worst team right now.

This is a bummer to me, but I've come to trust Stevens. Hopefully he sees something.

I am hoping for something but not expecting anything more than "we like our team" speak. Probably address issues this summer.

Do they expect to play all three of Kessler, JJJ, and Lauri in a giant frontcourt?

Probably true, but it makes me curious who he thinks will be available this summer.

A player like JJJ would have allowed us to get completely out of the 1st apron and reset all the penalties, while upgrading our roster.

That would have given us anoter 2-3 year window.

no way were we getting him.  I think Brad's just looking at a big that'll add some quality depth rather than someone who'll put us on a championship path this year.

Agree. Some third string depth guy while keeping Simons.

The Grizzlies have also created a massive $28.8 million trade exception in this deal -- the largest ever in the NBA, per

Isn't Kessler a RFA?  Sign and trade in the summer somewhere to get draft picks back?  Great deal by Danny.  JJJ with his bloated salary next year was never a realistic option with JB and JT.  You would think that Ja has to be next.

Hat tip to Danny on that one.  He got a star player without surrendering any real talent off of the roster.

That said, that's a very expensive front court.  I wonder if they trade Kessler, now or in the summer in a sign-and-trade.
