As I watch the trade rumors and random speculation floating around the internet I have a few thoughts
1. Is there a more classic Knicks trade than to go after AD, New York has long loved their stars regardless of health issues. I can't even field a guess what a deal looks like mostly because I am so low on KAT as a winning piece of an NBA team.
2. Giannis, I suspect he is traded this summer if at all but if he is moved a team that I dont think is talked about enough are the Blazers. They have injured Dame on the roster along with Jrue. With the rise of Avdija as a legit allstar wing do the Blazers offer a package built around Scoot Henderson, Camara, Hansen Yang, Grant (for salary) and picks? Giannis would be joining a currently 22-22 team sitting at 9th in the west with a starting lineup of Holiday, Sharpe, Avdija, Giannis, and Clingan with Timelord, Murry, and Love off the bench. Then Dame returns next season.
3. Kings, if they blow it up it will be fun to watch. Blowing up a team of bad contracts and players who are tough pieces to fit into winning rosters could yield a terrible return and a truly ugly post blow up roster. For a team not known to draft well this could be a mess.
4. Pelicans, a terrible team with a problematic Star (Zion) and no 2026 1st is prime for a desperation move. Queen and Fears are building blocks of the future and Murphy is good but they really need to make a move that at least gets them into the middle of the lottery to avoid watching a generational star get handed over to ATL. I wonder if they wait to see if a big trade drops (like Giannis) then swoop in to try to grab a couple win now vets (Derozen/Portis types) to help the franchise save face.
