Dunc'd On brought up this idea and dismissed it pretty quickly.

I probably wouldn't, but the idea gave me pause. He knows the system and how to play with our guys. He's a proven champ and would fit right into our system.

If we got a playoff run this year and one more season out of him, would that be worth?

Definitely not a first rounder, but probably a second rounder.

first rounder, hell no.

second rounder -- worst of what we have available, only if we're sure he's having a bad year due to GSW's system and not due to Father Time having caught up to him finally

No to 1st rounder. OK to 2nd rounder but the worst pick.

I don't need Horford back tbh.  Let GS pay him for the next year and a half to be a fringe rotation player and then he can ride into the sunset.

No. Progressively getting worse year after year, and I have no real interest in bailing out his poor decision to leave again.  we did that once, no interest in doing it again.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I?ve honestly moved on from Horford. Now if we could get KP for cheap in the off season, and he can give us something like 15-20 mins off the bench, then i?d be all for that. It seems like KP has some unfinished business as a Celtic.

Horford has not been good for the Warriors.  Boucher for Horford would be a fair trade just for the tax savings, the TPE, and not having to worry about him picking up the player option for next season.

No, a first-round pick for a 40 year old averaging 7 points a game on career low shooting would be insane.

No I wouldn't.  I loved Big Al, but he's done.  He should've retired at the end of last year.  Spend the 1st on an asset like JJJ.

I haven?t seen Al play this year, but his stats look fine. He?s scoring at about the same rate as last year (fewer minutes). His blocks, steals, and assists are at higher rates. He?s shooting threes at 35%.  Sharing the backup 5 role with Garza - 15-20 mpg - he seems like as good an addition as Cs are going to get if they want to keep Simons. Of course a plus being a vet who knows most of the guys he can probably fit as well as anyone.  I agree you don?t send the first, but now with Butler done for the season, maybe GSW will be motivated to sell for a pick and a young player.

Eh, I think the decision was fine. Most people had written the year off for the C's, and the reasoning he has given publicly has been sound.
