Food for thought-Keep the current top eight players intact. Trade a star player for several number one picks. Something akin to the Pierce/Garnett trade that Ainge pulled off. Solves the money issues and keeps a contender.

So, dump Tatum?

We would get oh so many picks. . . and be cursed forever.

I really like Simons. But arguably his trade value has only elevated with his recent improvement in play.

You really want to sell high in these situations even if he is a good fit for the squad.

The only way to keep him is to resign him to a mid-level deal in the 15-20m dollar range.

I don't know if he wants to settle for that kind of money when he was making 27m and could become a free agent and test the market.

I think it's risky to keep even if he is good.

Might want to trade him now, but what's the best package available for Simons? It all depends on what you can get for him.

I sincerely hope this is a joke. You cannot be serious. Right?

His trade value has certainly elevated, but at $27 million this year that has gone from negative in the pre-season (teams demanding draft compensation for taking him on) to little better than neutral.  Given how we are playing currently, he is probably of more value to the Celtics than any other team, so expect him to stay unless Brad has been lying about not needing to get under the tax line.

I?m all in on trading Houser and pieces for a decent big. Don?t know who, but might even be able to get under first apron.
He?s a streaky shooter who doesn?t bring much else to the table. I?d be okay giving Baylor, Walsh or Hugo his minutes. Just don?t love his game.
I?m also not understanding why people are down on Garza as a backup. He plays hard, shoots the ball, is a beast on the offensive glass, sets good picks, and not a terrible shot blocker.

You trade Stars for picks when your team isn't good anymore. You don't do that when the team is still good. This is a terrible idea. Maybe trade Tatum for a different star, but not for draft picks.

Trading Tatum right now would be worse than the Mavs trading Doncic, and that's saying something because that Doncic trade was horrifically bad and one of the worst ALL-TIME in all sports.

I don?t think anyone is serious about trading JT. But just to make it in the realm of something to consider, it would need to be JT for Giannis or Jokic. Can?t think of anyone else. SGA would meet the talent requirement but would still be needing bigs.

Just saying ... trading some combination of Simons and Minott (or Baylor) and taking back Zubac and Dosunmu would get us under the 1st apron.

That deal would probably be worth giving up first round picks for, especially if they think they have a chance to resign Dosunmu as a defensive specialist guard.

But Dusunmu is on Chicago, and the Clippers would need to send out a fair bit of salary to make up the difference between Zubac and Simons, as they only have $1.2 million under the apron, so you are missing a component of this deal I think.

I think Dosunmu is on the Bulls so I am not sure exactly what you are proposing here.  But the following trade works:

Simons and Boucher (probably need to send a first also)
for
Zubac, Batum, and Dunn

Anyone like that deal?

Batum can and would exercise his veto right.  He only wants to play in LA.

It'd be something like White and Minott going to LA with their requested first round picks from the Cs

The Bulls get Simons

The Celtics get Zubac and Dosunmu.

Sorry, White plus picks??? That is absolute crazy-talk.
