I will say, if Simons actually turns into a useful player on this team and stays here beyond 2026 on a reasonable contract while producing as a 6th ish man, then the Jrue trade looks a lot better overall. I understand it was primarily for cap relief and the second apron, but yeah Jrue is also 35 and took a step back last year. His contract is also not a good one value-wise.
I agree with others though. I don't think so for Brad Stevens, but Mazzulla 100% deserves COTY recognition. Guys are still bought in, and say what you will but he seems to have unlocked something with guys like Queta, Jaylen, Walsh, etc. He's not just a cheerleader, he probably also helps in developing and coaching the guys behind the scenes. Also the rotations he's used and gone to in certain stretches have worked. I'm still not a huge fan of the 3-point philosophy but those attempts have gone down, and I'd like to think they are more willing to adapt this postseason unlike last year in the Knicks series when they died by the 3 for good
