I have always thought Brown had a better killer instinct than Jayson. This was shown when we won the title. Am I alone in this line of thinking?
May new Tatum will realize that his basketball is career is finite and develop the killer instinct. Time to dominate and exert your will to win, bot let the game come to oyu.
I don't really feel that way. Tatum can be as cold-blooded as they come and positively affects the game in so many ways that aren't necessarily obvious.
I love Jaylen for this team and am glad we have both guys, but I also don't really see Jaylen as a true #1. Sure, he is doing it this year to an extent, but nobody is taking the Celtics seriously as true contenders. Not until our 1A comes back.
This is not to diminish what Jaylen has done. I agree that he does have a killer instinct, I just don't think that Tatum doesn't have one. This team is much better when both guys are here.
I watch every game, Tatum is historically bad in the first half of games. I asked AI:
"Jayson Tatum's slow starts to games, particularly in scoring, are a recurring theme often linked to shot selection (forcing tough fades), adjusting to defenses, and sometimes dealing with injuries or team dynamics, but he frequently responds with big second halves, showing resilience and impact beyond scoring, though fans and analysts debate his overall offensive consistency and "will" on the game"
I asked AI about the clutch scoring:
"In clutch situations, Jaylen Brown has often shown better efficiency (FG%/3P%) and impact, especially in recent postseasons, while Jayson Tatum attempts more shots and free throws, leading to higher raw point totals but sometimes lower percentages, though both are crucial, with Tatum often handling playmaking and Brown delivering timely, efficient plays and defense. "
Now I have seen Tatum take over games, but in the finals Brown did more. When Tatum does take over he is more potent than Brown. But he does not do it very much. I cheated using AI, so I apologize for that. To each their own...
