Thunder have the right to swap first rounders with the clippers this year.

Imagine them adding a top end lottery talent to that team.
Right because the Thunder traded away all nba caliber players to rebuild as they weren't going to win a title with that group. Hard decision, had a couple years of pain, and now are reaping immense rewards.
Fair enough. What would you want to see them get back for Brown? I know the true value would be bottoming out while Tatum is out and hoping for the Lottery gods to be kind.
several workable trades have been proposed.  Atlanta, Houston, and San Antonio all make a lot of sense for Brown and can provide sufficient value though different types of trades.  As an example, Atlanta could be something like Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, and a futiree 1st.  That makes sense for both teams. Daniels and Okongwu are also options from Hawks.

White would have a good market as well though not the value of Brown.
I am in the camp where I would want a return where I could envision the returning pieces helping us get to the promised land one day. No offense to those players, but I just don't see it with Johnson and Risacher. I would be hoping for that true #2 out of the future 1st. I love JB, but I concede our current team probably won't be enough even if Tatum returns to form.

So your argument is the Celtics should trade Brown, Tatum and White and go full rebuild? Because that's what OKC did. I'm not against that path if that's what they want to do.

But what we've been talking about is whether trading Brown or White gets a Tatum led team bad to a title faster than keeping Brown/White, which isn't really comparable to the OKC situation at all.

More to the point its fine to look at trading Paul George for SGA and say "The Celtics should do that with Brown!" The problem is the guy you trade Brown for might not end up being SGA, in fact in all likelihood he tops out much lower. You can't just assume the best case scenario.
trading Tatum now does not make sense.  He is injured so his value is low, so I would not trade him, at least not yet.  I would trade Brown, White, and Simons in the right package. Wouldn't give them away, but would move them. See how your draft goes and what the players you get look like with Tatum next year. Hopefully the team is performing and trending into contention, if not then I might consider trading Tatum or trading some of the assets for a different star partner for Tatum (either a younger one or a better one).

Johnson is not as good as Brown right now, but he is a lot younger (still just 23) and is still a very good player. I mean on a pretty deep Hawks team he is averaging 20 5 ppg 8.7 rpg, and 5.5 apg. Not turning it over much and playing solid defense.  Risacher just turned 20 and has solid overall skills. It was a weak draft but he was still the 1st pick in it for a reason.

I think Boston would be better with those 2 and Tatum than just Brown and Tatum even though Brown is better than either.   Plus you'd get an extra 1st and presumably would have a better draft pick yourself this summer.  I'd mich rather try to get Harper from San Antonio, but I think that Hawks package is a good trade for both teams.

Unfortunately, ?Beal out for the year? is one of the least-surprising NBA headlines ever.
