I mean, unless we make a trip to the Finals, the hindsight vote will always be "we should have tanked for a top-5 pick".  Hindsight doesn't care about things like fan enjoyment, pride in winning, watching JB play like MVP, etc.

The thing is, tanking for such a high pick was never realistic.  JB, White and Pritch would never lose 50 to 60 games.  They play with too much fire.

One interesting thing that Indiana did, was trading for Zubac in-season. He's another piece for them going forward along with Haliburton, Siakam, an incoming Top-5 pick and then a pretty good supporting cast with Nesmith/Nembhard/McConnell, etc.

I think I still prefer the Celtics path though. Also, I'm wondering is Indiana tanking purely on purpose, or is it also possible like others have mentioned that last year was a bit of a flash in the pan and some of these guys aren't *that* good? I mean they lost Haliburton and Turner but they still have had others (Siakam, Nesmith, Nembhard, Mathurin before trade) and yet they were still that bad?? Is Haliburton that valuable for them where losing him alone makes them a 25 win team?

 I agree with the comments above - definitely take the path we?ve been on over a down year, gap year, tank year.  Indy has had additional injuries but they weren?t going anywhere without Haliburton.  If they get the number one or two and they pick up a superstar in the making, I suppose the down year will have been well worth it, but I?d much rather have the year we?ve had.  Cs don?t have that superstar in waiting youth that I?m a little jealous of with other teams, but we?re in contention every year and it?s great that we?ll be a contender for at least a few more.  Hopefully some of our youth will continue to progress into solid rotation players for years to come.

Edit: Nope. That 29.2ppg cut off point cut out Harden. He had 29.1ppg. That is why they used that. To cut him out. The other seasons he had 7+rpg Harden had lower scoring averages.

I was surprised West averaging 7+rpg. I knew he was a rebounder in college. He talked about never playing guard before he got to the NBA and having to learn to play the position. To develop his ball-handling. If I remember correctly, I think he said he played power forward in college.

Sophomore = 17.8ppg 11.14pg
Junior = 26.6ppg 12.3rpg
Senior = 29.3ppg 16.5rpg

16.5rpg!!! in his senior season in college.

Amazing athlete. Does not credit he deserves for how athletic he was.  Plus a bunch of those height listing dock him 2 inches and call him 6-2 instead of 6 foot 4.

I would hope Wilt the Stilt was taller than 6?6?, which I though was a criteria.
