This works out that NOP indirectly traded IND #1 2026 (currently best odds in lottery) and their own #1 2026 pick directly (currently #2 best lottery odds) for #13 in 2025 (Queen).  Now, Queen has been good, as I understand it (I have not seen him play firsthand), but that is potentially trading the #1 and the #2 picks in a good draft for him.  Hard to believe that history will smile on NOP for this trade.

Meanwhile, ATL sits at #2 and #16 (they traded their own but have CLE first) in the 2026 draft.  The NOP have no picks currently in 2026.
league needs to have an opposite of Exec of the Year award because there's 3 teams competing for it - NO, Sac and Dallas.  At least Dallas has Cooper to have hopes about.

I cannot remember who (in jest) suggested this, but they had an idea to punish the worst NBA franchise. The last placed team would be forced to rebrand as their G-League affiliate for a season.

Basically the team would get symbolically relegated from the NBA. For example, if the Washington Wizards end this season with the worst record, for the 2026-27 season they would become the The Capital City Go-Go & The Wizards would play in the G-League.

I thought that idea was both genius & hilarious.
I'd move heaven and earth to make the Lakers have the worst record in the league just to have that happen to them

Is this a bit of a hangover or is something up with the Knicks? 4 straight losses and 4-6 in the last 10. They are mostly healthy too, only Hart has been out

What?s going on with OKC? They?ve lost 5 of their last 10 and are down 20 at home versus Charlotte. Definitely seem like they?re hitting that championship hangover wall.

Celtics win and Knicks loss, now C's back at the 2-seed. No Tatum at the moment, either.

Spurs are 4.5 games behind OKC, wonder if they'll catch up to them by the end of season

could be or it could be the league is finally figuring out how to beat them as it does with every champ for the last decade

Actually Finch might have saved the NBA. Ever since he ranted postgame about the whistle OKC gets and the FTs, OKC has been on the lower end of FTAs and even their defenders like Caruso can't just mug guys without getting something called.

Not to say OKC and SGA still doesn't benefit from the whistle (the Warriors and old friend Horford got boned multiple times on horrific calls when they played OKC recently) but it's a bit interesting. Whistle isn't as friendly and now they look a bit "human".

Honestly, they look bad right now and are clearly in their own heads. Their body language is awful - heads hung low, attitudes, etc.

It?s pretty unbelievable. Hope they keep it up. JT comes in (if hes ready) with an MVP candidate on the team. I?m not so sure the adjustment for either Jay is going to be without its challenges.

JT for Giannis?  😉

weird, but Charlotte is much better with Miller at 10-10 on year.   Ball played in 16 of Miller's games and they are 8-8.  Obviously not a great team, but a lot better when they have their 2 best players out there.

During earlier trade inquiries, it would have taken at least two first-round picks for the Clippers to consider parting with Zubac, league sources told HoopsHype. Among the notable teams to express interest in trading for Zubac were the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics, HoopsHype has learned.
HoopsHype

The Celtics have been unwilling to part with a future first-round pick to move Simons, league sources told HoopsHype. Simons is in the final year of his contract worth $27.68 million, averaging 13.5 points on 39.6 percent shooting from 3-point range as a Celtics reserve. He?s also drawn interest from the Milwaukee Bucks, as HoopsHype previously reported.

I'd explore it in the offseason using the potential Porzingis TPE. For now, I think I'd prefer to keep Simons and just add a depth big.

Indiana is interesting. They would obviously keep their pick this year, but if they add a Top-5 draft pick + Zubac and then get back Haliburton next year, that's a great team again. Zubac fits their timeline as well.

I?m with you here. Keep Simons and see what big is available for boucher/tillman/baylor/minott and 2nd rounders. Ideally we?d keep one of Baylor or Minott for wing depth. Dayron Sharpe comes to mind, if at all possible.
