Midway through the Charlotte vs Orlando game and Kalkbrenner is 4/4 which brings his season FG% to 92% (23/25).

Now 25/27 on the season after being 6/6 so ar this game.

I am just looking at that box score from the Lakers win against Minnesota yesterday. LAL's starting lineup is crazy. It is Austin Reaves, 3 PFs, and Ayton. The 3 PFs were Hachimura, Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia.

They had no guards. M Smart was out. G Vincent was out. And of course Luka & LeBron were already out. No ball-handlers other than A Reaves. They had 5min off the bench from Bronny. And 10min off the bench from Nick Smith Jr. A Reaves was not only the primary ball-handler but the only ball-handler on the floor for the majority of that game.

28pts 16ast + game winner for A Reaves

The Pelicans starting the season 0-4 is compounded by the fact they recklessly traded their 2026 1st round pick, (with no protections) to Atlanta.

Even at the time of the trade people were shocked at that level of incompetence.

Yeah that's just awful

They might be better off trading Zion at the deadline too for a haul at this point.

That is not really an option unless someone better or more consistent comes back in the trade.

Can you imagine if New Orleans traded Zion for prospects, then they end up helping Atlanta get a top 3 pick in the 2026 draft.

Bringing in Joe Dumars might have been the final nail in the New Orleans franchise coffin.

Kings starting lineup the other day

G: D Schroder
G: R Westbrook
G: Z LaVine
F: D DeRozan
C: D Sabonis

Two PGs. A lightweight SG at SF. A SG/SF at PF. And a dodgy defensive center trying to hold it all together. No defense. No rebounding. No physicality.

No wonder the Bulls picked up their 4th straight win to start the season.

The Bucks have found a gem in Ryan Rollins.

Ater finishing 8/9 Kalkbrenner is now 27/30 in the Hornets first 5 games. That's got to be some sort of record.

Jeez. Nikola Topic can't catch a break. Missed entire rookie season with a torn ACL. Now diagnosed with testicular cancer. He has started chemotherapy. Only 20 years old.

Quote
Thunder?s general manager, Sam Presti, said on Thursday that doctors are ?extremely positive? about Topic?s outlook.

?Our only expectations for him are to focus on this,? Presti said. ?This is his most important priority. He?ll be back playing basketball when he?s able to, but we?re not putting any time length or expectations on that obviously. He has our total support, encouragement and love.?

Presti said the 20-year-old had been diagnosed with cancer at the start of October but had asked the Thunder not to discuss his treatment publicly until he started chemotherapy.

The Serbian guard has yet to make his debut for the Thunder after sitting out last season due to a torn ACL.

Its no wonder no one cares about the NBA Cup - Tonights slate of games is AWFUL. Like, thats the best they could do for the opening night?

I remember Fridays used to be the premiere night in the NBA - what happened??

Poor guy. I really hope he can bounce back from this.

He was one of the guys I was highest on in the 2024 Draft - couldnt believe it when he fell to OKC.

Alex Sarr's numbers over first 5 games

27.2mpg (not much)
18.4ppg 8.6rpg 4.0apg 2.0bpg
53.6% FG 13.8 FGA
42.9% 3PT 2.8 3PTA
85.7% FT 2.8 FTA

I haven't seen the Wizards yet this season. That is an impressive stat line.

Hugely productive on a per minute basis. 18 & 8 in only 27mpg. That would be 24.4 points and 11.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. His assist numbers are high for a big man. His block numbers are high. His shooting percentages are good. Why isn't he playing more than 27mpg?

One concern in the numbers is the low FTA numbers. His free throw rate (FTr) is 20.3% (2.8 FTA /13.8 FGA) which is low for a PG nevermind a big man. If his shooting percentages come back down that low FTr will come back to hurt his scoring efficiency. His TS% is currrently 61.2%.

Regardless of whether he maintains these current numbers are not, it sure looks like he is one of the 2nd year players ready to take a leap in his game. That is an impressive start.

OKC now 6-0.

I am surprised by that. Missing J-Dub. Not that convincing in their opening games. Their first 2 games where both 2OT games against HOU and IND. A 1pt win and a 6pt win. They have 7pt win against Dallas and a 6pt win against Sacramento. Then two blowout wins. A 17pt win against an Atlanta team that was missing several starters. A 19pt win against basement dwellers Washington.

SGA averaging 34.2ppg 52.3% FG 61.8% TS 5.7rpg 5.7apg. He is carrying them through this period with J-Dub. Their offense looks so basic and one dimensional without J-Dub. No reliable 2nd option. Chet has missed 2 of the 6 games as well. When he plays well, it takes some pressure of SGA but when he is only so-so that offense feels like Shai against the world.
