Joe knows what he is doing and will push this years team toward 50 wins

I for one, do not think Red Auerbach could not coach this team to 50 wins.   So that leaves out Joe.

I will say that if this happens, Mazzulla should be coach of the year. If this team gets a top six seed, it shows Mazzulla as a fully capable coach. I do not expect either but I would be impressed by either, and stunned (pleasantly) by 50.

Part of me wants this to indicate that Stevens knows this team is going for a semi tank, has talked to Mazzulla about it, and does not want Mazzulla to focus too much on getting wins to justify an extension, and instead just focus on figuring out who they want to continue working with and how to get them in the best position to compete when Tatum is back next season. But I doubt that either Stevens or Mazzulla is okay with any level of losing and both will want to win games.

Agree 100%

Playoffs, Playoffs?  Are you talking about playoffs?  Playoffs?

50 wins would be a miracle and, for that matter, a waste.

Coach to win. Having players and coaches with the ability to perform well without their best player is not a waste. Developing talent and a winning mentality is plenty valuable, potentially more than a chance at one good asset/prospect.

Unbelievable.

What team is Brad Stevens watching ? Did he not see the disaster that was the Celtics offense in games 1 & 2 of the Knicks series, well before Tatum's injury.
Even with Tatum out next year, I saw reason for optimism for a second run at a title after his return with some new faces to support our core players. But I was thinking that way because Brad is good at building a roster and I saw a good chance that Mazzulla would eventually be replaced. Very depressing to hear this.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce
