I?m not crazy about Joe but the fact that Brad likes him is definitely comforting.

Gross. As far as I am concerned, Joe is a massive failure.

Losing to the Heat in 2023 was pitiful. Blowing 2 double digit leads at home in the first 2 games was on him for poor management, refusal to use timeouts, and refusal to make any adjustments.

2024? my grandma could have coached that team to a title. Easy path too, not much adversity at all in the playoffs.

2025- everyone will focus on the Tatum injury but we blew 2 20 point leads at home to the Knicks. Again, failure and refusal to change the game plan and horrible over reliance on the three.

I get it, the league is different. But you absolutely cannot live by the 3 and die by the 3 to the extent that he does. You have to be able to adjust, and he has not and will not.

I would have waited until next summer.  We'll learn a lot about Joe this coming season.  For the first time, he'll be coaching a team that isn't the favorite to reach the Finals.  (Notably, he's fallen short of expectations 2 of those 3 seasons, although last year was rough with injuries / illness to KP, Jrue, JB, and of course Tatum).

A move that will clearly be uncontroversial.

Agreed. This was unnecessary.

Pity. And I thought this summer was already disappointing enough as it was, even if expected.

Agreed there was no reason to do this now. It?s the exact mistake Brad made his first year, too.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Works for me.  Joe knows what he is doing and will push this years team toward 50 wins (which some will certainly complain about as they want to tank for a pick).

I'll be shocked if we're at 47+ wins this year.  I think that's a big ask for Brown + White + bench players (many of them bad bench players).

I guess Simons is a wild card, but I think he'll be dealt.

It is a steep ask, but this is where I think Joe?s hyper-competitive nature will shine.  If I had to bet, I think he is very excited for this season, despite the payroll restriction and loss of Tatum.  He has a bunch of young players who may have felt overlooked (I know specifically Josh Minott feels that way) that he can mold to do what he wants, which will include a lot more activity both on offense and defense.

I also think Simons will be dealt, but I think we will get 1-2 useful players back.  We will likely take back $15-20 million in salary, and I don?t expect it will be more Niang types that we can?t use on the roster.  Maybe someone making $15 million who should be paid $8-10 million, just like Simons making $27 million and more likely should make $15 million, but someone of rotational quality.

I think Joe, like Brad, is just great at the psychological aspect of coaching.  I look forward to seeing the players who surprise everyone because of the confidence

Wins a championship and is a massive failure.  :blank:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I for one, do not think Red Auerbach could not coach this team to 50 wins.   So that leaves out Joe.

Second biggest mistake Brad has made. First was promoting him to head coach, second is giving him a multi-year extension.

And no, Joe will not be able to push this team to 50-wins this season. Not with this roster.
