Smart said that he expects a lot of boos when he comes to Boston. I don't see it.

This isn't a player voluntarily leaving the team. We traded him and the guys we got back won us a championship, not to mention the fact that he didn't want to go. The Cs drafted Smart and, regardless of his flaws, this guy bled and dyed green.

Nothing but a standing O from me.

Absolutely not. IF Marcus was instrumental, and left us for the Lakers in a contentious offseason...maybe (aka Ray.)

Can't boo a guy who bled green, and then was traded against his will.

No, I would not boo Marcus Smart.  I expect nothing but love when he returns to Boston.

I would never. This man bled green, and we did him dirty. This is not a Ray Allen situation.

Has he bashed the Celtics?

If not, nope.  He was a good Celtic.  A frustrating one, but a good one.

It's not Smart's fault that he was traded from the Celtics. He would have happily retired here.

I am incredibly disappointed that he went to the Lakers and I will not give him a standing ovation while he is on that team. As long as he doesn't help them win any Titles, he'll always be a Celtic to me. I just hope they grow sick of him and trade him at the deadline so we can all be on the same side as hating the Lakers again.

He's already had his welcome back moment when with Memphis so probably no cheers but definitely no boos.  The man gave his all for this team.

I?m not a fan of booing, and I wouldn?t boo him, but I do hate it when ex-Celtics become Lakers.  I hope he performs terribly there.  This is a case of an ex-C choosing to become a Laker.  I can?t be ok with that.  Hope he lives a long, healthy, happy life but I?ll never wish him good fortune as long as he?s in a Lakers uniform.

I'm happy he's somewhere other than green at this stage of his career.

Nothing to boo here.

There is no reason to have any ill will towards Marcus. I do hope the Lakers have a dumpster fire of a season, but I?m actively hoping Marcus plays well and can get back to the type of players he was 2-3 years ago.

Side note: I was listening to the latest episode of the Bill Simmons podcast and he and Zach Lowe were discussing the possibility of Marcus getting his number retired in Boston. No disrespect to Marcus - but absolutely not. The idea is ludicrous to me and honestly I couldnt believe it was a real topic of conversation.

Didn't like his brick city here, but I'll boo him since he accepted Luka's offer to join the purple and gold.

As for getting his number retired here in Boston...heck no. Wasn't he the elephant in the room when it came to fighting over team control between the Jays and him?

When the Celtics play the Lakers, I will cheer every time Smart throws up a shot. Just have to remind him of what he said a few years back about being a great shooter. Let ?em fly, Marcus!

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
