I saw a report this morning that Charles Bassey isn?t going overseas after all, and still has an interest in signing with the Celtics. I would rather have him than Simmons.

I get it - Bassey stood out in SL.  My guess is that Ben would also have stood out in SL.  It?s hard for me to believe that Bassey would outplay Simmons this year. But I suppose you are thinking down the road and maybe Bassey does have upside. Probably worth it given team expectations this year.
talent-wise Simmons SHOULD be better.  heart and effort-wise, I have little doubt Bassey gets that nod by a lot.

It really has nothing to do with SL. Simmons fell out of favor and the playoff rotation for the Clippers when they could have used a reliable big the most. Bassey has played well in limited minutes in SA, it?s his injuries that have been the biggest problem, but he has been an advanced stats darling. Give me the limited injury prone big that I know will play with heart and than the limited injury prone big I don?t know if he will.

That?s what I get.

Ok - now I get it. Appreciate the clarification.

I?d take Bassey over Simmons.

He?s got room to grow and improve plus, better rebounding, better rim protection, better motor, more opportunistic and efficient scorer. Worse passer, worse pedigree.

I think the choice (if it is a choice) is pretty clear.

This is where I am at too.   I am sure some of the celtics players (Tatum/Brown) don't want Simmons anywhere near our young players.  Give me the young guy who plays hard all the time over the entitled 'used-to-talented' Simmons.
