Gaaa, really wanted White.

White was #2 on my list.

Such a killer in this kind of league.

Good picks today by all, and great value on Deron

Love the Deron & Oladipo picks.

I said my top 5 PGs were Steph, Nash, CP3, Kidd, Chauncey. #6 was Deron.

Oladipo could easily be a starter in this league. High level athleticism. High level defense. Good offense.

Vince Carter is a really interesting guy to me.  I think historically he suffers a bit because of the era he played in.  The fact is, perimeter players just weren't that efficient overall in the mid 2000s.  Judged against guys playing in the 2020s, Vince looks like an inefficient chucker.

But, I think for anybody who watched back then, Vince was a superstar.  He could run an offense from SG/SF.  I hated him in NJ and Orlando.  (Weirdly, as a bench player, he became one of my favorites to watch.  He aged incredibly gracefully and was a fantastic mentor.)

Yeah, he was tough to place. I did not have him as my top guy as recently as last night, but when I thought about a guy to be the go to guy on a 2nd unit, or having a superstar offensive centerpiece to sub in for KD because a lot of my guys are off ball or not primary options guys... I went Vince.

Also, if Paul Pierce is a 3rd round talent on a good team, Vince in the 7th is a steal. PP was a better defender but on offense they were every bit equals to those watching 20 years ago. Pierce is a far better starter candidate, but Vince as instant offense with a well rounded offensive game off the bench seems like it would work well.

He and Kidd in the 05-07 era were the top 2 guys on a finals team, and they'll be my bench backcourt essentially, unless Vince plays SF.

Having Kidd off the bench reopens the Q of whether to go with prime Nets Kidd, or old catch & shoot Kidd

I had Vince & Klay ranked right next to each other at 10th & 11th.

I was close to drafting Vince in the 5th round instead of Andre Iguodala with Vince starting at SF. He primarily played at SF at the start of his career. They had Doug Christie (he was finished by 2005 CB League start date) at SG. Vince stayed at SF until T-Mac got promoted to the starting unit. I liked Vince in a run and gun type perimeter trio next to Nash & Ginobili. I thought that trio would work well together.

I think VC is a jack of the wrong kinds of trades - good at scoring/creation but not enough to justify the usage and not special elsewhere.

Early in his career he was a very good passer, 25.7% assist rate in the year I selected, and a pretty good defender actually. This was in the first 6-7 years of his career and when he was on a title contender and tried. He shot 40% on 3's on he'd take more on my team and less shots overall.

It is a shame VC didn't try harder on defense. He was a good defender when he tried. Fun to watch early in his career in Toronto when he played with consistent effort defensively.

Never did that in Jersey. Actually, never did it again after the 2001 playoff run. That was only his 3rd year! Incredible how quickly he developed that veteran laziness. Just mailing in the regular season games and matchups against lesser opponents. Only getting himself up for matchups against top stars like Kobe.

Ultimately that is why I went with Iggy instead of VC. I thought a perimeter trio of Nash, Manu, VC was too weak defensively. And that VC would have trouble with some of bigger bodies at SF in this league. That and I thought Vince would take too many possessions away from Nash & Manu who are efficient than VC.
