I thought Ray would have gone in the 3rd round.

I did not expect him to last this long, especially in a group of Celtics fans. I knew I had to trade up and get him because I just love how he fits this team.

I think Ray lasted this long because everyone has been focused on filling up their frontcourts.

To explain the trade from my perspective...

1.  I just like making trades.  I'm curious to look back after the draft is done to see how they work out.

2.  CFF and I have a long history, and if there's something potentially mutually beneficial, I'm going to do it.

3.  I now have four of the next 25 picks or so, and I've got a list of 24 guys that I have on my current tier.  I wanted to replenish some picks after the trade up.

4.  I've mellowed out over the years and I'm just not that competitive.  It's like the Danny vs. Brad thing:  do I go for max value, trying to "win" trades?  Or do I agree to fair value (or even let my opponent "win")?  I was cutthroat 15 years ago.  I'm a bit more chill these days.

I was looking at Klay, Ray, Jimmy, and two players yet to be named at #34. Klay was my #1 due to defense and proven track record as a #3 option, Ray was my #3, and Jimmy I had kind of previously disregarded due to fit and him being primarily a #1, but was warming up to him at #47 if there

From the DRAFT thread:

Roy wheelin' and dealin' this draft.
Definitely making it interesting.  I didn't expect to see him trading back after his big trade up.

I think he's hit a sweet spot with his picks. Even picking this late, between 40-60 he'll have great options that aren't much of a step down if he picks wisely, but almost no one can match a 1-2 punch, both in overall talent and cohesive fit, of a Curry/Giannis pairing.

I think we just saw a mutually beneficial trade between two top 4-5 teams.

I had a really, really hard time placing Anthony Edwards.

The talent is really excellent, and he's got the stats.  That's probably all that matters in the sim?  But, there's the question of his maturity level and how well he'd play beside others.

This is probably about where he should go.  He can certainly take over games.

Can confirm I definitely got burned by some cutthroat Roy trades 15+ years ago lol.
