At times like this, I really enjoy seeing what we have in all the new players. You are guaranteed there will always be a guy in the league that rises to the next level that people slept on in the draft. You Never know what team will be lucky enough to have that player!! For the sake of the post I'll call it the Second Lottery!
Some 2nd Lottery winners, feel free to add your own Player. Also Pick your player to be the NEXT break out star.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo - 15th overall pick Bucks Definitely won this one.
2.  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 11th overall pick
3.  Nikola Jokić. 41st Pick Talk about winning the lottery!
4.  Kawhi Leonard. 15th overall pick

My under the Radar Break out star for the 25/26 season and beyond --
-- WALTER CLAYTON JR. 18th Draft Pick and was Traded on top of it!!

Good place four you to pick the Player that will become an Allstar. Of course it may take them a couple years which is fine.  I don't know if there is a way to save this so we can check back Later??
I have fun doing this every year.

Tony Parker, 2001 Draft, 28th overall.

That year the C's took Joe Johnson @ 10, Kedrick Brown @ 11, and Joe Forte at 21.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If I'm being honest, I feel like Hugo has as good of a chance as any. Being a young international prospect who was previously rated as a possible top 5 pick, he certainly has potential.

No, I don't think he'll get anywhere near the guys you listed and he could just be another Yam Madar, but at least we took a swing on that pick and wasted no time in doing so (the pick was in right when it was our turn).

Cedric Coward (11th) and Derik Queen (13th) both have all-star upside.

I am not sure anyone else stands out to me. I agree Walter Clayton Jr will be a good pick and a good NBA player. Not sure if he will be an All-Star but the guy can definitely hoop. Thomas Sorber at 15 is another one but I am thinking quality starter more than All-Star.

Rodman.  27th pick overall (which was 2nd round back then) in the cursed '86 draft.

I know he was '24 draft but I think Topic for OKC is going to be a stud.  He was out all '24-25.

Does Not have to be from this years Draft, they just need to become an Allstar.

Weren?t we set to get Parker but Red insisted on getting Joe Forte instead? That was Red?s last draft selection also. I remember Jim O?Brien really wanted Tony but was overruled by Red last minute. Sorry for the OT.

Back on topic: I have a feeling Hugo will be a part of this list in the future, fingers crossed.

Tyrese Maxey is a recent one who I thought Danny would take over Nesmith (who I was all-in on).

No idea on this year for an all-star projection outside of the lottery.  I think Fleming and Lazier will be players in the second round, though.

with a name like "Lazier", hard work to improve would not seem to be a reasonable expectation   ;D

Red was infatuated with Forte.

OK, I missed the second part of this, I think Kyle Filipowski will be a great player.  He'll become that stretch 5 that everyone wants.

Kobe Bryant (1996).  Taken at #13 by Charlotte but then traded to LAL for Vlade Divac.

Manu Ginobili certainly makes this list. After being picked #57 by the Spurs in the 1999 draft, he went on to win 4 championships, 6th man of the year in 2008, and had 2 All Star appearances.

He is 100% never going to be a Mader.  Hugo is long and has strength.  His ability to shoot at a 36% clip from 3pt land will determine how good he is going to be.  I think we will be extremely happy with the rest of his game.  He also has an ability to get to and finish at the hoop.  It's his outside shot that will determine if he's going to be a starter or a role player.  If he can be an average shooter then he will be a steal at 28.

Ben Wallace wasn't even drafted. Some other guys with very solid careers were not drafted including VanVleet, Dort, Reaves, Reid, Dunc Robinson, and Caruso among active players.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
