my predictions of what we'll see this year in summer league:
- Baylor looks like the team 'stud'. shooting and passing have people thinking he's a rotation player this year.
- Hugo impresses with his hustle but offense will look rough
- Walsh will still look lost on offense and draw real scrutiny for being moved off the team in some manner
- Williams will look overmatched in every way.
- Shulga and Norris will have some flashes on offense.  both will look like decent 2-way signings that could become functional end of bench players at some point
- Lofton won't look great but he'll look better than Williams which won't take much.  won't be seen as a player that could crack even this woeful playing time allotment for bigs on this roster.
- the rest - a couple may get camp invites as warm bodies but their biggest contributions will be as answers to the trivia question "what players were invited to the C's 2025 Summer League team"?

The fact that Walsh is still having to play in summer league tells me all I need to know about that guy.

Nailed it.

Walsh is 21, have some patience. Not like he has had opportunities the last two years here. Our guard and wing rotation has been pretty much locked in by Mazzulla. Scheierman needs to prove he belongs in a rotation not just on a roster he is going to be 25.

That he's the second youngest guy on the entire roster? I think we all forget he's only 21 years old sometimes.

I look at it more like he came out of school when HE chose to --> puts himself out there as ready to contribute to an NBA team.  That's how I judge him.  Age can only be a mitigating factor up to a point.

This actual blew my mind a bit, but its true, and its not even that close. He's more than a year younger than the next two guys Davidson/Minott.

Its also worth pointing out....he's also the lowest paid guy on the entire team making just 2.22 million next year. He also has 200K guaranteed. Virtually any version of cutting him and replacing him with another minimum will actually cost the Celtics more than just keeping him. So unless he is just really bad in summer league and showing nothing in practice I'd guess he'll be around next season. I'm actually hopeful for him, he has some juice on defense. If he can shoot at all I like his 3+d upside. I'm less concerned with overall numbers with him and more on what his shot looks like in summer league.

Great post.  I agree with a lot of it.  Some additional and different opinions.

Jalen Bridges is a dark horse one to watch.  He's been invited to camp and was one of the top UDFA signings last year.  He has some skills that the C's look for in young players to develop into a 3-D player.  His knock coming out was he was 23.  Needed to work on his ball handling and get stronger.  We will see what 1 year in the NBA did for him.

Hugo - I agree.  He's going to fill up the stat sheet but his outside shot needs work.  I do expect him to be able to drive to the hoop and crash the boards.

Baylor - Totally agree

Walsh - I expect him to look better because of the level of competition but he won't look good enough that we expect him to suddenly turn into a role players

Williams - Summer league isn't great for centers but Williams best attribute is his passing.  I'm hoping to see that show out plus his rebounding and shot blocking.  He's not needed to score.  I don't think he will look any worse then most bigs look in summer league.  It's a guard/forward showcase anyway.

Max and Norris - I agree on Norris.  I think Max will start off and look like Baylor did last year.  I have zero expectations for him.  Hopefully he surprises us.

My predictions

No high-level point guard hurts our wins

Williams is not dominate, but productive and has moments

Baylor has a highly productive, but inefficient summer league

Hugo is highly efficient, but doesn't shoot a lot

Celtic fans want us to use a two-way on Kenny Lofton Jr.
