He won't, but Lillard on the Nuggets would be insane

Minnesota makes the most sense for Lillard.

Conley is old and near retirement. Minny have no PG to replace him. Minny are short another perimeter scorer / shot creator. They need a guy who will take and make shots.

Lillard would get to play with Ant and a frontcourt of McDaniels, Randle, Gobert and Naz Reid. With depth behind all of them.

A title contender who needs what he does.

There's literally no downside to signing Lillard. It will most likely be a two-year vet minimum contract, if he's just completely done then no problem. But if he's not? Could be a major talent addition. He's literally one of the best shooters in league history.

I think he'd be a great fit basketball wise. He's friends with Tatum.

The one question Lillard should have for Brad is this: "What's your plan spending wise?" Because if the goal is to be below the tax the next two years, then he should probably go elsewhere. If the Celtics want to stay below the luxury tax in 26-27 they won't have enough money to really upgrade the frontcourt and so probably won't be contenders.

That is a dinosaur of a starting lineup, really old. OKC (among others) will run rings around them.

Reminds me of the Lakers with Karl Malone and Gary Payton.

It?s possible, none will be fit to play by end of season.

The player ages at start of 2026-2027 season would be:

Lillard: 36
Steph: 38
Butler: 37
Draymond: 36
Horford: 40

That means your starting lineup would have an AVERAGE age of over 37.

lol that isn't going to end well.  a good chance that part of that starting unit will be on IR by the end of the year.  And yes, I know they are pro athletes in great shape, and training has come a long ways in the last 20 years, and all that....They are OLD.   Someone is going to get injured.

I honestly can't believe how lucky we were with Big Al the last couple of years.  He was load managed very well.

That is the one team that Lillard could join where he wouldn't be the oldest starter, he might end up the youngest.

Even Horford was healthier than Kristaps and the latter is a lot younger than him.

Perfect for Celtics. They get the guy for free for two years, and he rehabs with his friend Tatum who has the same injury.
This is Lillard's best chance to win a championship. I'm sure he realizes that.
Reminds me of the Pierce-KG-Allen situation. Pierce convinced KG, Tatum can convince Lillard.

Horford? The Celtics used Horford sparingly last year so he could play at a high level when he played. It worked. He knows that.
I think whether he stays will depend upon how much they want him to stay. He is valuable with the young players and around the clubhouse.
But he is 39? and won't last forever.

Personally, I'm high on this 7 foot center from Kentucky, a top team, who reminds me of Robert Williams, but with good knees.
He passes and runs the floor like a guard in videos I've seen. And he can rebound. Plays defense. Scoring? Bill Russell was no scorer.
