When Tatum went down with the Achilles I could certainly read the writing on the wall that changes were coming.  I get the reasoning and the financials and all.  But now that they've torn it apart, I'm just kind of bummed that I won't get to watch these guys play for us anymore.  KP, Jrue and Kornet just brought so much joy to the game.

Not to mention the loss of not seeing a guy as talented as Tatum not play for a long stretch.

Just a bummer.

It flat out sucks. So disappointing how fast the window closed for this group.

Went from finals contender to basically a poverty franchise over night.

For 2025...they are a poverty franchise. Maybe 2026 changes that. But this is a 30 win roster.

I am bummed we won't get to root for a title. But there's still plenty I'm interested to see.

How will Brown respond to moving up in the pecking order? Can Brown be a #1 option on a good offense? I think he may have a GREAT year.

Can White elevate his scoring numbers into real all-star conversation?

If they keep Simons how does he fit? Is he a long term piece or an expiring contract?

Who do they start? Do Hauser and PP finally get to rise above bench roles? How do they look without Tatum's gravity next to them?

Who will emerge out of the Baylor, Hugo, Jordan trio of 6'6 wings? Can a young guy grab a role and solidify himself as a young cheap piece on the next great Celtics team? I am a big believer in Baylor, I love Hugo's upside and attitude and I'm not out on Walsh yet.

Will some combination of Williams, Shulga, Garza, Minot be the next Kornet and/or Hauser? People forget back when those two were brought in as an NBA retread and undrafted FA nobody thought they'd one day be staples of an NBA rotation. This is the Celtics trying to do that again. One of those guys may be the next Kornet/Hauser on the next great Celtics team.

Where do the C's end up in the draft? DO they push to win or push to rets guys to soft tank? Do they make an unexpected run? the Celtics haven't finished with a below .500 record in 10 seasons, can they keep that up?

Its not like things are hopeless! They will get Tatum back in a year. they still have two all-star caliber guys in Brown/White. They have most of their own draft picks. They are run by smart people who have earned our trust. Cheer up!

I'm with you. I wanted Jrue on the Cs for years, so to have him gone after only 2 seasons is much too soon. A healthy Zinger was so fun to watch. And Kornet came into his own in Boston, and was a great personality, fun to root for. All of that ripped away.

Now we're left with 4 or 5 solid players and a bunch of dregs and unknowns.

And, IMO, there's really not much to be even somewhat excited about for next season. Maybe Jaylen goes for 30 a game, or Pritchard for 20 a game, but so what? Stat padding on a crappy team. Hoping someone like Scheiermann or Gonzalez turns into a decent player? Not my idea of a good time.

It would help if Tatum returns with a decent chunk of the season left, but it wouldn't help enough?even if they sneak into the playoffs, they won't have nearly enough depth to do anything.

?Just wait until the following season!? some are saying. That's, like, 16 months away from starting. Hard to be only a year removed from a title and suddenly be presented with that many months of mediocrity (at best).

A lot of how I feel is hinging on whether or not Al returns. He's 39yo and his family is entrenched in the Boston community. We revived his career and he seemed so thankful for it. He could have ended up anywhere, even retired, but he got to compete for championships in an organization he is comfortable with and make even more money on top of his ridiculous last contract.

If he leaves Boston a 2nd time - especially to go to the other side of the country - I'll be disappointed in him. He won't fall into enemy territory like Ray Allen or anything (unless he goes to the Lakers), but I'll feel a little spurned as a fan and I'll think differently of him as a person. I get wanting to compete for a championship, but he literally won one with us last year. He can't possibly ditch us twice - both in our lowest moments - and expect people to be totally cool with it.

I?ll be disappointed if this is it. No half measures, only full send.

Trade Brown while his stock isn?t low.

After this season it won?t be as high. He may put up similar numbers (maybe), but will anyone be impressed if it?s on a 34-win team?

Become a 20-win team and build around Tatum and White with cap space and a top pick. They already have the franchise player.

I tend to think that executives go by numbers.

If he has a good year from 3 and stays healthy and averages ~30, he'll be worth like Mikal Bridges a 2 first round picks.

Yes it bums me too...we had something special. But unfortunately health, and possibly a lack of hunger this past season, put paid to that.

When thinking of our team, I am reminded of Percy Shelley's sonnet "Ozymandias":

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
No thing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

All empires fall...we didn't even get a chance to be one  :-\

I feel antsy and at unease regarding the roster.   I lost some work productivity checking the internet, lol,

There's plenty to watch and be intrigued by even when a title is out of the question.  As long as you root for an organization that knows what it's doing, there's reason for hope.
