Want some cheese with thst whine. Lol.

Give the kid a chance.  The other players Brad drafted were not as highly touted as this kid.  Brad also drafted a shooter in Baylor and our 2nd round pick this year was a 39% volume 3pt shooter so that debunks your theory.

Certainly sounds like he is coming over to play this season.  I admit that I am surprised.  I did not predict this.  I got this one wrong.  I thought for sure he was going to be a stash.  It will be extra tough on him if he misses summer league.  That is a $2.8M cap hold for now and likely a cap hit for the season.  For a guy who is probably not ready for the NBA, even for a lost season team.

I guess we can pencil him into the depth chart.  JD Davison too as I understand he is signed to a non-guaranteed contract:

White        Pritchard        Davison
Simons      Scheierman    Gonzalez
Brown       Walsh
Hauser      Niang             Tatum (IL)
Queta       Tillman

That is 13 players and a salary of $203,315,617 by my math.  $4,509,383 under the second apron and $15,415,617 over the tax line (with an assumption of what Gonzalez's salary will be).  BOS may not sign anyone else to the regular roster.  Amari Williams and Max Shugla might both be 2-way deals (if not beat out by other summer leaguers) along with Miles Norris who has already signed a 2-way deal as I understand it.

The reporting as soon as Hugo was drafted indicated he was coming over. In a season where you are going to have wing minutes available due to Tatum's injury it makes a lot of sense to bring him over and get him some development time with the team.

As for the roster, they will absolutely sign at the very least 1 more guy since NBA teams are required to carry 14 players (they can drop to 13 for no more than two weeks in the season). It also makes sense to fill out the roster given you already have one guy projected to miss the whole season.

OK, thanks for clarifying.  I thought it was 13.  I have been expecting that they sign Kornet.  That would make the rotation/depth look a little better:

White        Pritchard        Davison
Simons      Scheierman    Gonzalez
Brown       Walsh             2-way
Hauser      Niang             Tillman
Kornet      Queta              2-way

Tatum (IL)

I envision one to two 2-way players suited up most nights.  Sometimes maybe even 3.  But this is just to start the season.  There will be changes still.

I heard the reporting but doubted it.  This still makes no sense to me.  He could hardly earn minutes in the Spanish league.  How is it going to be good for his development if he is put out there and is just overmatched?  Hopefully Stevens et al know way more than me and he will be better than I think.

It?s not just about playing in games. It?s about being w the Celtics training staff and coaches. Learning what they want him to learn, focusing on the development that?s needed to be an NBa is layer on the Celtics.

Plus he will get run in the g league.  Its way better for prospects to develop with their team versus overseas.  Different rules, better competition.  You draft and stash a player to save money.  Hugo will get run with the big club next year because of his intangibles.

We should just start Hugo, like the Lakers did with young Kobe....worked for him eventually....throw him into the fire.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

The team he was on had like 6 or 7 former NBA players on roster. Its a very good team and league, probably the 2nd bets basketball league in the world. I'm not saying he's going to get major minutes for the Celtics but him getting some NBA minutes and a healthy dose of G-league minutes while being in the Celtics system and adapting to life in the US seems like a good plan.

Nesmith was a DA pick. He was taken in the 2020 draft so you can't blame Brad for the Nesmith pick. Besides Nesmith turned out just fine, a solid starter once he was flipped to the Pacers. He just never fully developed his game in Boston.

Baylor Scheierman was a lights out shooter in college. I expect he might eventually take over for Hauser if the Celtics need to flip Hauser to save salary tax money down the road.

Nope. Kornet got paid 4/41m by the Spurs of all teams.

We might be in the market for a big to replace him.

Edit: We just signed Luke Garza C for 2 years/5.5m.
