Colin Cowherd had this as a topic with Ric Bucher.

So 7 years is since Golden State won their last title with both Kevin Durant and Steph Curry in 2018. The title winners since then are:

2019 - Toronto Raptors
2020 - Los Angeles Lakers
2021 - Milwaukee Bucks
2022 - Golden State Warriors
2023 - Denver Nuggets
2024 - Boston Celtics
2025 - Oklahoma City Thunder

Where do the 2024 Celtics rank?
Where does OKC rank vs the rest?

#5 -
#6 -
#7 - 2022 Warriors

I am struggling with the other ones.

I am partial to that 2020 Lakers squad but that bubble championship was funky. The 2023 Nuggets were impressive but they did not even face a 50 win team en route to the title. Toronto were strong. More of a one man team with strong supporting cast like the 1994 Rockets.

I wasn't that impressed by Milwaukee. That was a weird playoffs. That was the year were something like 11 teams had an all-star level player injured in the playoffs. I don't think either Milwaukee or Phoenix make the Finals that year without all those injuries.

#1 - 2024 Celtics
#2 - 2025 OKC
#3 - 2020 LA Lakers
#4 - 2019 Raptors
#5 - 2023 Nuggets
#6 - 2021 Bucks
#7 - 2022 Warriors

Colin Cowherd's picks for this were

(1) 2020 Lakers
(2) 2024 Celtics
(3) 2023 Nuggets
(4) 2022 Warriors
(5) 2021 Bucks
(6) 2025 Thunder
(7) 2019 Raptors

Ric Bucher gave him a lot of flak for putting the Bubble Champion Lakers #1.

OKC were 2nd from bottom. I was wondering if more people would have them near the bottom. I see a lot of folks being down on their title campaign. Not convincing enough. Let Indiana take them to 7. Only won because Haliburton got injured. Most boring finals in recent memory. Nobody will remember it. I was surprised by that one. I thought it was one of the better Finals in recent times.

The 2024 Celtics would easily win a seven game series against any of the other teams.

I'd definitely swap the Raptors and Warriors but I think the rest is fairly close.  I can see the Lakers being that high as they pretty clearly had the best 2nd player of any of those title teams as both Lebron and Davis were top 5 players during that run.  Now they definitely had a weaker 3rd player, but they were a pretty deep team (KCP, Rajon, Dwight, Danny Green, Caruso, Kuzma, Markieff Morris, McGee, JR Smith).  The bubble actually cost them Bradley who was starting but didn't play in the bubble.

Raptors go 2 because Kawhi Leonard effect and him going through Philly and Bucks. Warriors go 3...trailed 2-1 and, hate to say it, came back up 3 straight. Bucks go fourth but tbh many players were injured that year and the Bucks were just a Kevin Durant shoe shy of losing that series. Nuggets for facing an inferior Heat team. Lakers for that bubble nonsense, a healthy Clippers team in normal environment would've crushed them. Thunder because boring and Hali got injured in Game 7.

thinking in terms of head to head against each other
1. 2024 Celtics
2. 2023 Nuggets
3. 2021 Bucks
4. 2025 Thunder
5. 2019 Raptors

7. 2020 Lakers

Lakers were the most underwhelming winner in the last 7 years.  C's team was a steamroller for the most part.  Nuggets and Bucks title teams were like lightning in a bottle where everything came together for them and they were really complete teams those years.  Think the Thunder depth gives them the edge over Toronto's title team though peak Kawhi is better than SGA.  OKC just has more to throw at Toronto.

One bounce differently and the Raptors lose to the Sixers in the 2nd round.

you mean game 7 goes to OT with Toronto at home and with clearly the best player on the floor. Sure Philly could have ultimately won that game, but Toronto would have been a decent favorite to start OT
