It is a strange thing to say but I would not try to read too much into it.  He is just trying to  make nice with Atlanta.

Here?s a weird quote from KP. I?d like to see the full context of the reply though. Does he mean he could ?contribute more? in Atlanta because there?s less talent and less pressure (vs championship or bust in Boston)?

My read is that's what he's saying, that in Boston if you didn't win a championship your effort and contribution effectively counted for nothing in the eyes of the fans and the media....
He's not wrong. On various Celtics boards, I have been disgusted at the things "fans" say about him. That he contributed "nothing" to the chip. As if the regular season is nothing. Would the Celtics have still won in 2024 if they were the 6th seed?
Don't mind me, I'm still upset because all of my favorite players on the team were traded or are leaving, because the NBA is a garbage league that forces their best teams to dismantle themselves. Is there another league that has done something so stupid?

Players should treat all seasons like they are championship or bust.  They should always give maximum effort and should try to win every game.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I imagine he means that he gets to take more shots now. Be more involved in the offense. Not have to sacrifice for the team because you are going for a title.

KP was a fun player for the Cs when he was playing and a deserving fan favorite, but the Celtics finished 14 games up on 2nd place in 2024 - 64 wins to 50 wins. They would have easily been the 1st seed with Al starting and the worst player in the league playing back-up Center.

I get what you're saying, though. If Brad never gave that extension to Jrue, we could have just let him walk this offseason and kept KP. Unless he actually preferred Simons and Niang over him. The team would at least be much better balanced.
