An optimistic prediction:  I think Simons is a candidate to come in and see a significant jump in efficiency.  He's having to pretend to be a #1 option in Portland these last few years, and he's not that.  But unless we hit the red button, he's more likely to be a third or fourth option for us even with Tatum out.  I think he's a better shooter than a glance at his stats would indicate, and a diet of easier shots may help him thrive if he's willing to accept a smaller role than he's used to.

Interesting pickup.

He has always reminded me of Jason Terry.

I hope the addition of Simmons doesn?t mean the end of PP?s tenure in Boston. I always assumed any Jrue trade would bring in a big, and makes PP the starter.
I expect Simons to be moved again

Simons for a big hopefully?

I would imagine that PP starts.

Simons had a lot of rumors around him for the last half a year. I wonder if the Cs move Simons again for more value.

He was a 20 point scorer on a bad team.   Not sure where that puts him with a more veteran team of better players.
So unless he gets shipped out it is

Simons
DWhite
JB
?
KP

starting next year?

Big Al?

maybe?  put him on an every other game schedule?

I don't understand the trade at all for Portland. They would have been better off letting A Simons' contract expire and leave on a free next summer than take on 2 additional years of Jrue's contract.

The Blazers don?t have any veteran players. This is similar to what SA did with CP3 and Houston with FVV. They need someone to lead the team.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

* Small combo guard with good scoring / shooting skills.

* Limited ball-handling and playmaking. Not a real PG. Solid secondary playmaking for a SG.

* Defensively vulnerable. Easily overpowered at SG. Did better at PG. Closer to an average defender. Does not switch well. He will get picked on. He will be matchup hunted. Pritchard probably does the better job defending guys bigger than him than A Simons does.

Celtics Kemba Walker? Celtics Isaiah Thomas?

It certainly wouldn't be surprising.

Simons salary is likely a lot easier to trade than Jrue's. I could see Stevens making multiple trades into smaller and smaller contracts, extracted value at each stop.

Simons is still a positive value asset for some teams.

So Portland's roster is now

G: Jrue, Scoot
G: Avdija, Shaedon Sharpe
F: T Camara
F: J Grant
C: D Ayton, D Clingan, Rob Williams

I don't think Scoot can beat out Jrue for the starter's job. His progress has been slow. He is still not a starting quality PG in this league. I don't understand why you would take on 3 years of Jrue's salary if you believed in Scoot as your long term PG.

Guards: Jrue, Scoot, Shaedon Sharpe
Forwards: Avdjia, T Camara, Jerami Grant
Centers: D Ayton, D Clingan, Timelord

so keep trading until we get an future all star potential guard on a rookie contract then?
I hope so

I think those guys were a tier ahead of Simons as both scorers and facilitators.

Simons to me, strikes me as more of a Cam Thomas, Jordan Poole, Jordan Clarkson type.

The recent Shams tweet makes me think the C's will also trade both Hauser AND Porzingis

Well Hauser only saves us $10 mil, so we need to find another $8 mil in cap savings somewhere.

I think I'd prefer to keep Porzingis than Simons.

Who knows at this point?   Brad seems to pull rabbits out of his hat over and over again.

If trading Sam and KP can get us a really good starting big that is more reliable than KP and also has a high ceiling, please make it happen.
