Take Dylan Harper and run.
This is not as impossible as it seems. Jaylen Brown is exactly the type of high character, thoughtful, big scoring wing that San Antonio would covet. They can?t mess around with Victor anymore, he?s already on the verge of being known as a top 10 player with the only thing holding him back being his poor win percentage. At VW?s size you need to take the next step now while he is still free of injury and who better to lead that team than Jaylen who has been instrumental in carrying the Celtics to high 50+ win seasons, where he was often recognized as the superior player to Tatum. Pop would love that one of the final plays of his legacy would be bringing Jaylen Brown to San Antonio.
As for Harper, it?s not every year you?d have a number 2 that could be worth exchanging for a franchise wing. Harper is big enough, athletic enough, and with most importantly has a mature enough game to justify the gamble. Golden State essentially tried this but had the wrong players available at the top of the draft with Wiseman and Kuminga. Harper is 3 times the prospect of either of those 2, and not because of freakish athleticism but because of polished 3 level scoring ability.
As good as I project him to be, he wouldn?t be leading you on a deep playoff run next year which gives you a slim shot at one of the top 3 studs in next years draft. Suddenly if the stars align, out of no where you fixed your cap, recovered your top player and have possibly the most impressive young core in the league. Not to mention you still have the steady hand of Derrick White to lead the kids.
It?s too much of an opportunity to pass up. If San Antonio would part with Harper for Brown you take the deal and reload for 2026 and beyond.
