Loved him while he was here, but when somebody leaves you twice, you have to realize you care about them more than they do about you. Him leaving the first time cost us a solid chance at a Title in 2020. We were in the ECF with Theis and Kanter manning Center

Well, it's not like all things were equal either time he left.  He got 4 years, $109 million when we were rumored to be offering 3 years, $60 million.

Yeah. At the end of the day, these guys need to do what's best for them and their families and they owe us nothing as fans.

Also, it makes little sense for Horford to waste what might be his last year, playing on a Celtics team that will be lucky to make the play-in.

Saw that this morning. That is honestly shocking that he?s already moving like this so soon, while also not wearing any brace. I think you?re crazy to think he?s not coming back at some point this season. Hell, after seeing this is a Christmas time return really out of the question? That?s still three months away.

Yet, he also said that if he had known we were getting Kemba, then he would have reconsidered. We don't know the final amount that was offered and we ended up paying him that contract anyway, only we had to trade for him instead.

He doesn't owe us anything, but we shouldn't all be bowing to our knees and wishing him success on the Warriors (I've literally seen people on Reddit telling him to go get a ring). He left to go play for a mid-tier Western conference team when we also have a need at Center. His family's home - with a 6th child on the way in December - is in Boston.

It's fine, just rubs me the wrong way. Probably just because he seemingly realized his past 'mistake' and seemed committed to ride out his career as a Celtic. I was wrong about that.

Christmas time feels pretty early. I get he looks good, probably even ahead of schedule, but they are going to be insanely careful with him. A return right after the all star break would be about 9 months which is in the 8-10 month time frame that his dad mentioned after the surgery. That would also give him the last two months of the season to rebuild trust in his body, which in turn would probably allow him to start 26-27 in a better place mentally/physically.

I think a return in March would feel like the right time if this is according to Tatum's recovery timeline and how he feels. But I wouldn't be mad if he comes back in April...get right for a few games and get some rust off. True contention will resume in 26-27. I was initially bummed that the C's start contending again in 27-28 with 26-27 being his rehab year, but he's progressing very well, like one year well from what I've heard.

They should have kept the team together. They would have had a title shot.

Too big of a bill to pay, needed to break it up unfortunately.  The latest CBA really hamstrings teams who build a roster the way they should.

This is where I am at, it makes no sense for either Horford or BOS to have Horford play on the team for this season without Tatum.  GSW on the other hand, is a good fit for both player and team.  We'll see how their depth works out but their top end with Curry and Butler is very good.  Green and Horford are good supporting players, but I don't see either as a "big 3" level player.

Golden State kept both G Payton II and D Melton.

G: Steph Curry, G Payton II
G: Podz, Moody, D Melton
F: Jimmy Butler, Hield, Gui Santos
F: Draymond, Kuminga
C: Horford, Q Post, T Jackson-Davis

That is a strong roster. 13 men deep.

Ya think?

Butler is 36
Curry is 37 and will be 38 before the playoffs
Green is 35 and will be 36 before the playoffs
Heild is 33 and will  be 34 in December
Horford is 39 and will be 40 in early June

Don't forget Gary Payton II who will turn 33 in December.

All of those guys are older than the Celtics oldest player, Chris Boucher, who will turn 33 in January.

The Warriors have an interesting mix of talent, but winning with a roster of your best players being this old would basically be unprecedented.

Golden State = 2nd best defensive team in the West after OKC among playoff teams??

Two high level defensive forwards in Jimmy and Draymond. A quality defensive big in Horford. Top level defensive bench guards in G Payton & D Melton. A strong defensive wing in Moody. Some solid pieces around them in Podz, Steph, TJD.
