Luka is so much like Magic Johnson when he is driving to the hoop. So great at knowing where the contact is and getting himself to the line.

And both whine non-stop to the ref if they don't get the call!

Clutch midrange J by F Wagner off the elbow. Germany up 5 with 1min30sec to play.

Franz is only 5-17 FGA but 13-14 FTA with a good all-round game outside of his shooting. Made his shot when it mattered most though.

Update: Germany win. They will play Finland in the semi-final. Turkey vs Greece in the other semi-final.

Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation told ESPN on Friday morning.

Brogdon could be their backup SF. He is big enough. 6-5 220lbs long arms. He is slowing down. Harder to keep up with opponent guards. Defending bigger guys moving forward looks the best option for him defensively. NY gets an extra shooter / ball-handler on the floor.

So an upgrade over Landry Shamet as the backup SF.

I am surprised they did not bring back Precious Achiuwa. He is a weak primary backup big man but a very good 3rd stringer. He would give them good depth behind Yabu & M Robinson. M Robinson is injury prone too. Depth there is valuable.

It is a strong bench. I like what NY have done.

I think Brogdon is a guard, a combo guard who can play a little bit as a SG, but I don't see  him playing as a SF (ie a Forward).  Maybe.  Teams play with 3 guards these days and the Knicks may do that, but Brogdon will still be a guard.  I see Hart and Bridges as more forward-like than Brogdon.

This could be a sneaky good signing.  Brogdon's biggest issue his entire career has been durability.  But he is a good player and only 32.  Rookie of the year and 6th man of the year.  I think on a good team (which NYK should be), in the right role, with his minutes able to be managed, that he will be a significant plus for the Knicks.

The Atlanta Hawks are trading guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets for cash considerations, sources tell ESPN. Bufkin was Atlanta's No. 15 pick in the 2023 NBA draft, and this now gives him a fresh opportunity in Brooklyn, and the Hawks some roster flexibility.

Wow, trading your #15 pick after just two seasons?? 

Baylor could be headed out soon too, so maybe it's not so surprising.

I know nothing of course.  Just saying that Baylor looks like a reach at this point to even be on a roster in two years.

Bufkin doesn't look like an NBA player. He was getting beat out for playing time by some marginal talent last year.

Those combo guard types who are not PGs and are being forced to play PG in the NBA look dodgy mid-to-late first round material. Should be 2nd round picks most of time. I think that should have been the case for Bufkin.

We will find our identity hopefully at the top of the lottery ping pong balls this upcoming season

I like what Brad is doing with the roster this off-season. It makes no sense to be competitive for a top-6 seed and then first or second round exit. All these moves are about resetting for a second title window. Sure would like to see this group get at least that second banner that fortune stole from the Kevin Garnett Celtics. The only move I have a problem with ....... and it is a huge problem, is extending Mazzulla. When Tatum returns with a rebuilt roster, we need a competent coach. Spin that title all you want, but I watched a microcosm of what is wrong with Mazzulla in Games 1 & 2 during the Knicks series this past season. A terribly flawed offense and a stubborn mind.
