Warriors interested in Josh Giddey

Jake Fischer: I can report there have been multiple teams that have reached out to Josh Giddey's representation about having interest in Josh Giddey. Golden State is one of them. Golden State would be interested dependent on the machinations in some type of Josh Giddey, Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade, from my understanding.

That's been my assumption all along. I think the Bulls wanted to try to trade Vucevic for Kuminga, but the Warriors just weren't interested in that trade. I think they've wanted Giddey all along. There's been a staring match for awhile now about it.

I don't blame the Bulls for saying no, but I also don't get why they wouldn't pay Giddey 30m a year.

For the Warriors, Kuminga is their ticket to get one more piece for another championship run. They can't waste that asset.

I agree. Chicago would be insane to let Giddey go. He shot 37% from 3pt for the year. Last 10 games of the season averaged 19pts, 10ast, 12rebs. Josh is only 22 years old as well.

Anthony Gill and the Washington Wizards have agreed to a one-year deal.

Gill has been with the Wizards since the 2020-21 season. Last season, Gill averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.8 minutes across 51 games.

It is incredibly difficult to navigate a double sign-and-trade, especially with the new CBA rules.

Malik Beasley is the latest NBA player to apparently be broke:

https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/nba-guard-malik-beasley-evicted-from-detroit-high-rise-apartment-for-unpaid-rent-report-215237506.html

$59 million in career earnings.  I guess that's the type of player who might be a target for gamblers?  Whatever the reason, the investigation cost him a 3 year, $48 million contract.  But, he's on social media suggesting he's playing in the NBA this year:

Tim Legler's over/under for East

15 Washington 20.5 wins = under
14 Brooklyn 20.5 wins = under
13 Charlotte 27.5 wins = over
12 Chicago 30.5 wins = over
11 Toronto 37.5 wins = under (30-35 win team)

Legler doubted Toronto because of Ingram's injury issues. He misses too many games to expect Toronto to make a jump like that.

10 Indiana 38.5 wins = over (.500 at worst)
9 Miami 38.5 wins = under
8 Philly 41.5 wins = over
7 Milwaukee 42.5 wins = over

Legler is bored with the Heat. Too much of the same over recent years. He wonders if he underrates them due to this. Philly the biggest wild card. They could be 15-20 wins under this total or 15-20 wins over this total. Anything is possible with them.

I am shocked Milwaukee is only 42.5 wins. Giannis will have them in the 47-52 range.

6 Boston Celtics 43.5 wins = over
5 Detroit 45.5 wins = over
4 Atlanta 46.5 wins = under
3 Orlando 50.5 wins = over
2 New York 53.5 wins = over
1 Cleveland 55.5 wins = over

Interesting that Boston is 6th highest for expected win totals. Legler said he saw BOS as the same as IND. They are winning organizations. They will both find a way to overachieve. Legler went over. Adam Mares went under. Both were scared by BOS' bigs.

Atlanta being 4th was interesting. Adam Mares took the over. Adam Mares took the under on NYK.

He has never been one to exhibit sound decision-making abilities, so it is not terribly surprising he has lost most of his money and/or had it stolen by friends and advisors.

He is also presumably going through or just finished a costly divorce case, going back to when he publicly cheated on his wife with Scottie Pippen?s ex.

Tim Legler's over/under for West

15 Utah 18.5 wins = under
14 New Orleans 30.5 wins = over
13 Phoenix 31.5 wins = over
12 Portland 33.5 wins = over
11 Sacramento 35.5 wins = over

Legler betting on Zion playing this year. And he likes a number of their other young players. Robert Williams has played only 61 games in the last 3 years. Jesus. Adam Mares took the under on Sacramento.

10 Dallas 40.5 wins = over
9 Memphis 40.5 wins = under
8 San Antonio 43.5 wins = under
7 Golden State 45.5 wins = under

Anthony Davis had a surgery in the off-season. Something to do with his eye. Adam Mares was worried about that.

Legler is fed up with the Grizzlies. He doesn't like them. Doesn't like their squad. Does not like the lack of athleticism outside of Ja Morant. And does not trust Ja Morant to be healthy & available. Adam Mares took the over.

Legler not convinced about San Antonio. 3 lead guards who have to learn how to play together. Wemby still young. He doesn't see them as a 45-47 win team. He is more comfortable around .500. Mares went under as well.

Legler thought the Warriors would be under due to injuries. Steph is an injury risk. Jimmy is an injury risk. Even if Horford does join, how much can you ask of him. Draymond is older. Legler thought 39-43 wins. Adam Mares agreed but felt if everything went their way they could be a 50-52 win team but due to their age it is unlikely to play out that way.

6 LA Lakers 48.5 wins = slight over, 50-50, coin flip
5 Minnesota 49.5 wins = under
4 LA Clippers 49.5 wins = over
3 Denver 53.5 wins = slight over
2 Houston 55.5 wins = over
1 OKC 62.5 wins = over

Adam Mares talked about a weirdness with the Lakers. Not a happy team. Guys going in different directions. Legler seemed to agree. He worried about Ayton being happy next to 2 ball-dominant players in Bron and Luka. Smart and his injury issues was a concern. Legler thought they were no better than last season's squad. Same level as last year.

Worried about PG position for Minny. Did not upgrade the problem there with Conley. No proven backup PG. Rob Dillingham a question mark for a title contender. Legler did not like how they lost in the playoffs. His question - what do you like better about Minny this year than last year? Nothing really. T Shannon getting more of an opportunity. That is about it. But NAW is gone and he was valuable for them. He sees them as stalling out. Stale. Adam Mares largely agreed but took a slight over.

Legler believes the Clippers improved their squad over last season. As a result, He doesn't understand the over/under being lower than last year's win total.

Legler thought over/under was good for Denver. Adam Mares - a DEN fan - thought they would beat it comfortably and be a 57-58 win team.

Legler thinks Houston may be a 60 win team.

ESPN was the first to report NBC?s opening night slate as well as the five Christmas Day games, which are:

Cleveland at the New York Knicks
San Antonio at Oklahoma City
Houston at the Lakers
Dallas at Golden State
Minnesota at Denver.

First time since 2015 when the Celtics haven't played on Christmas Day. Not sure if we should be happy or sad about this.

I guess it's good to not watch them lose on Xmas this year. Last year was abysmal losing to the lowly Sixers at the Garden.

It will be good for them to get an extra day off so close to their trip to Vegas earlier in December.

I think that is probably the correct 10 teams and I like all the matchups. Some solid planning from the league on that.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Opening night: Houston @ OKC. Warriors @ Lakers.

That's funny, Adam Silver making KD watch the Thunder raise their banner. Then the second header is another Curry/LeBron showdown again.
