Don't think he'll be missed, but, Drew Peterson to the Hornets.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/celtics-free-agent-signs-with-charlotte-hornets/ar-AA1IChbr?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=U531&cvid=0e822de83e8f48f08b1ad893f1d67dc6&ei=15

Peterson will be 26 in November.  Glad to see he got another 2-way so that he can hang around the edges of the NBA for another season, but he is running out of real estate.

I am pretty happy with the current BOS 2-ways:

Max Shulga  (23)
Miles Norris  (25)
Amari Williams  (23)

None of them are real young.  They will all likely see time on the team filling in for injured players.

I liked having Peterson on a two-way deal, because he was a guy that could at least play as an emergency fill-in without embarrassing himself.

I'm less sure about any of the other three.

With Peterson, it is fully established that he will be nothing more than a 2-way guy, ever.  I just don't see it.  At least with the 3 guys BOS signed, there is still some ceiling.    The vast majority of 2-way players never amount to anything, there is at least some hope with these 3 guys, there is no hope for Peterson, from what I have seen.

It depends on what "no hope" means.  Peterson has an NBA skill, and he can contribute as a 12th man or so.

The others have yet to prove that they have any NBA skills.  Hopefully they do, and they'll get the chance to show them.

I guess we see him differently.  I see guy that didn't even do much in summer league.  He was never the 12th guy on the Celtics.  None of the current 2-way'ers will likely be 12th guys anytime soon either (maybe 1 of 8 of them).  My view is that Peterson is clearly one of the 7 that never makes it.

Max Shulga  (23)

Miles Norris looks interesting. A low usage wing who can give two way play. A low mistake player. Someone who may be able to play for the team if needed.

Not impressed with Amari or Shulga. They shouldn't be anywhere near the Celtics this season. Shulga can have a year in the G-League to see if he can play against NBA athletes or not. Then either cut him or keep him. Amari looks further away than that. He needs a lot of training & experience. He is not ready for the Celtics. Not convinced the G-League will be that good for him either.

Miles Norris is the player who has impressed me the most after Hugo Gonzalez in SL. Norris is not doing anything special. But he is not making mistakes either. Steady player. Good size, good athleticism. Competes both ends. A guy like that can find a place in the NBA. Stable player.

I have no real opinion on Shulga yet but I would rather have Amari Williams in the system than Peterson. Not for 2025-26 but for 2026-27.  Maybe Williams can be a bench center.  I get he has not done much in summer League but again, this is not about this season.  Williams in my view is a much better prospect than Peterson.

Rod Boone: #Hornets have waived Josh Okogie, league sources told The Observer. His $7.7 million salary for next season would have been guaranteed today after sides agreed to push back original date. ? via Twitter rodboone

Good bench player.

He would be a nice pickup for Boston especially if Hauser is intended to start at forward alongside Jaylen.

So Charlotte would now be

Starters: LaMelo, Sexton, B Miller, Miles Bridges, Plumlee

Bench

G: Dinwiddie, Tre Mann, Nick Smith Jr
G: Josh Green, Knueppel
F: Pat Connaughton, L McNeeley
F: Grant Williams, T Salaun
C: M Diabate, Kalkbrenner

16 players even after waiving Okogie. KJ Simpson and Drew Peterson both on two-way contracts.

It is amazing how much depth they have on their bench. They could put 3 legit 5 man teams out on the floor and compete. They need to consolidate some of that depth into superior high end players. Better starters or even higher tier bench guys.

I?m not that high on Sexton, but Lamelo(23)and Miller(22) are super talented. I think Bridges is a solid 3/4 option as well. Definitely need to upgrade at the starting center spot, though.

What kind of rapport have you built with Zion? How do you get the best of him? Dumars: The first thing I would say about Zion is he?s an incredibly good guy. He?s a really good person. He?s obviously immensely talented. He and I have had some incredible conversations. We are in constant contact with each other. I?ve talked to him about the responsibility of being great and the responsibility of being a leader, of being a captain, of being the best player, of being the face of a franchise. I?ve talked to him about how all of those things come with responsibility and how it?s time now at 25 years old to embrace those responsibilities.  via Andscape

Crazy to think that Zion is still only 25 years old.

I wonder if Josh Giddey is a sign-and-trade candidate. We assume that Kuminga is because he wants more than the Warriors are offering him. But we assume the Bulls will ultimately retain Giddey.

That's probably most likely, but I do wonder if we will see something kinda' crazy happen with that. What if they did a double sign-and-trade for Kuminga and Giddey. Or what if there was a third team that got Giddey with Kuminga going to the Bulls and the Warriors getting talent that is ready to help them compete next year.

The Warriors are a team that has been linked to Simons in the past, and he does make sense in that Klay Thompson/Jordan Poole role. Niang also makes a good deal of sense for their system and they have a TE that Niang would fit into.

I wanted to put that out there into the etherverse just in case it actually happened. It's an interesting concept.

I can't figure out the Bulls at all.  We're talking years now.

Just turned 25 this month, too. I hope Zion figures it out. He?s a special player.

Shams reporting Brad Beal is getting bought out and going to the Clippers on a 2 yr $11 mil deal with a second year player option. Would?ve been nice to get him in Boston if he was that cheap, and has the St Louis connection with JT. Although I am by no means a cap expert but I would think we could afford that?

I think he preferred living and playing in LA. The guys have to want to come here too.
