The Indiana Pacers are acquiring Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies. Indiana will send Memphis a second-round round pick, as well as the rights to swap a future second-round pick.

Memphis will clear a bit more room under the salary cap, as they create the room necessary to renegotiate-and-extend the contract of Jaren Jackson Jr.

The Pacers get some additional center depth on an affordable contract in Huff.

Good deal for Indiana.

Jock Landale and the Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a contract. Landale recently cleared waivers after being let go by the Houston Rockets.

Replaced Huff already.

I would have loved either one of those guys on the Celtics. Give us a 3rd big who can play minutes.

Shams Charania: The Houston Rockets are trading Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

Seems cheap.  Since we have about 3000 of them, I would like to see Brad try to package some of our seconds.
Wish we could gotten him with all those seconds round picks, Washington got a steal

Cs probably didn?t want to pay him. $3.5M this year. Then a team option for $5.5M next before becoming a RFA.

So, less than we're paying Minott + Davison

Davison is non-guaranteed and Minott is on a minimum salary with a second year team option. I like Whitmore, he?s very talented. I just don?t think the Cs were willing to pay him, especially after this year.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Lastly, as teams reached out to Trail Blazers officials on background, the feedback was consistently positive regarding Ayton, who was a community staple in Portland and hosted many team bonding events during the season.

There was another report I read that talked about Scotty Brooks. He is the Lakers top assistant coach. Before that he was an assistant in Portland and worked with Ayton. It said they wentto S Brooks for inside info on Ayton - his personality, locker room presence - and that Brooks was positive on Ayton too.

Why did the Blazers buy him out, then?

I wanted Huff but didn't think Memphis would trade him given his cheap contract.  Landale must be working for peanuts if this is going to save them money.

Why did the Blazers buy him out, then?

(1) They want to start the young guy Clingan
(2) They saved $10mil

The reports I read were that he didn't respect team culture, was lait to meetings, etc.

I don't think that team's waive young, productive, high character guys.

I wouldn't have minded taking a flyer on Huff.

Yeah, I don?t get this one at all. Huff is on a minimum contract, too. Guess Brad is really high on Luke Garza. :blank:

Last season, Huff was one of just three 7-footers to shoot 40% on 3-pointers while taking at least 200 attempts, along with Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porzingis. He also ranked 24th in field goal percentage allowed on layups and dunks last season among 90 players to contest at least 300 shots, per GeniusIQ.

Huff averaged 2.7 blocks per 36 minutes with Memphis and was named the G League's Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. He is under contract through 2027-28.

The Nuggets are also determined to convince Valanciunas to stay in the NBA as their backup center behind Nikola Jokic. Valanciunas cannot sign with Panathinaikos unless Denver grants him his release.

It's been speculated the Valanciunas could give back some, or even all, of his NBA salary in a buyout to be able to sign in Greece. He reportedly has a three-year, $12 million deal from Panathinaikos.

The Wizards waived Gill on Sunday, which was the deadline for his 2025-26 salary of $2.5 million to become guaranteed. Gill, 32, is highly respected within the Wizards? front office and coaching staff.

But no, he?s not joining the front office. I expect the Wizards to re-sign him at a veteran?s minimum salary and have him serve as their 15th man.

Another forward. 6-7 230lbs.
