Dennis Schroder and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal. The first two seasons of Schroder's deal are guaranteed while the third year is a partial guarantee

Nice payday for Schroder.

The Milwaukee Bucks are trading Pat Connaughton and two of their own second-round picks (2031, 2032) to the Charlotte Hornets for Vasilije Micic, sources tell ESPN.

To save $1.4M?

Three options:
1. They needed to make that trade to sign Turner - I don't think that's true, but cap experts can advise
2. They love Micic
3. This is prelude to another trade.

They needed to create space to sign Turner.  They could have stretched Connaughton, but Micic is rumored to want to return to Europe, so he will likely just take a buyout for half his salary or so, which will let them create enough cap room without having even more dead money in future years to add onto Lillard?s stretch.

In fact, they cant stretch Connaughton. You cant have more than 15% of the cap in stretched salary. 15% of the cap is 23.2ish million. Dames now accounting for 22.5ish million.

This is why Phoenix cant stretch beal.

I forgot that part as well, thanks!

I really don't get what the Kings are doing. They have Monk-Schroeder-Lavine-Ellis at guard and they spend a 1st round draft pick last year on Carter. However, none of them have the ball in their hands as much as Sabonis or DeRozan.

Maybe DeRozan is getting traded, or maybe they are preparing for a different larger trade, but this team building just doesn't make sense.

The team-building doesn?t make sense and The Sacramento Kings has really been a true statement for about 20 years.  One of my dream trades is Monk and Carter for Simons.  I think Carter could become a contender-quality starter in a couple of years, and it would be nice to get him into the organization before the Kings send him somewhere else.

Charlotte's bench is looking solid - with the exception of the center position.

G: Tre Mann, Nick Smith Jr
G: Josh Green, Pat Connaughton
F: Josh Okogie, Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeeley
F: Grant Williams, Tidjane Salaun
C: James Nnaji, Ryan Kalkbrennen

Deep. Lot of talent in those 3rd stringers.

They have a good roster.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I don't think I'd mind that. I think we could get even more in a trade like that. But it doesn't make sense for the Kings to get Simons with Lavine and Schroeder.

But then again, maybe because it doesn't make sense, the Kings would do it.

Z LaVine and M Monk never fitted together. Too similar. Monk can't get enough playing time behind Z LaVine without distorting lineups. Either forcing SAC to go small with 3 guards or go big and play without a PG. Neither works well for SAC.

They love Malik Monk in SAC. But they need to move on from one of them. They do not work well together.

I was impressed with Devin Carter last year. Missed a large chunk of the season. Played great defense once he got a chance to play. Offense is a work in progress but if he can sort out that perimeter jump-shot he will be one heck of a glue guy type PG.

Even with his lousy shooting / overall offense, the team looked much better with him on the court than off the court. And whenever he went off, you were waiting for him to come back on. He was that exciting to watch because of his defensive pressure & defensive playmaking.

Sacramento Kings

G: D Schroder, Devin Carter
G: Z LaVine, Malik Monk
F: DeRozan, Keon Ellis
F: Keegan Murray, T Lyles
C: D Sabonis, J Valanciunas

Not enough defense to do anything. They badly need an Aaron Gordon type at big forward to protect D Sabonis. That would do the world of good for that team.

Sacramento could threaten for a play-in spot. Portland, LA Lakers, Memphis. 4 teams vying for 2 play-in spots. The West only has 3 teams that are clearly out of playoff contention - Utah, New Orleans, Phoenix. I thought Sacramento were a 4th but that roster should be competitive to give them an outside shot at a play-in spot. At least as good as Portland.

Jakob Poeltl and the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a four-year, $104 million contract extension that runs through the 2029-30 season. Poeltl will pick up his 2026-27 player option at $19.5 million and add three more seasons to his deal.

Wow. $25mil per for Poeltl.
