2025 Celtics Draft Workouts

Apparently former Memphis Tigers guard PJ Haggerty has a draft workout planned today with the Celtics.

With a return to Memphis likely out, Haggerty weighs his options as NC State and Ole Miss being the frontrunners for his services. Texas was also on the list but seems to have dropped off. On the NBA front, Haggerty has a visit scheduled for Friday with the Boston Celtics.

Goodman reported the star guard could go in the mid-second round at this point, but also could wind up going undrafted.

Haggerty started his college career at TCU and Tulsa before a career-year at Memphis. The AAC Player of the Year averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals for the Tigers.

Oweh is an interesting prospect he was listed at 6'4 (assumed to be his in shoes height) at UK but actually measured 6'4.25 (without shoes) at the combine. I don't review him as a Holiday/White archetype but I see him as more of the Josh Hart/Lou Dort/Javonte Green small but strong wing type. Like many prospects his 3pt shot is his swing skill over his college career he is a 36% 3pt shooter but that is on a low volume. He also is a pedestrian 71% from the line however that number did jump to 77% so that could be a good sign. His outlier stat is actually the amount that he dunks the ball for a smaller wing. In 32 games he had 47 dunks to lead all sub 6'6 players compare that Flagg had 36 dunks in 37 games. 

His combination of playoff positional value and his physical profile makes him a solid option (though likely a perceived reach) at #32.

Chaz Lanier, early in the draft process I would have pegged him as a mid 2nd round pick at this point with others pulling out he is well worth a look at #32. Good guard size 6'3.75" 205lbs 6'9" WS (almost identical measurements to Josh Hart). Lights out shooter who also tested out well athletically. Easy player to project into a bench role on a contender.

I watched quite a bit of Chaz Lanier this past season.

He needs to play with a lot more purpose off ball to be an effective offensive player in the NBA.  Tends to drift.  Doesn't always move and cut with purpose or speed.  This is important because I don't think he has much ability to create with the ball in his hands, so his contributions have to be off ball.  When he gets a sliver of daylight, he's lethal.

He was actually a better defender than I expected coming into the year.  Not a stopper but solid length and puts in the work.  I wonder if high-effort play at both ends just left him too drained to keep up the necessary movement for a full game.  He had a number of games where he'd explode in the first half and then fade late - could be a fatigue thing.  Rick Barnes puts his best players through the grinder so it wouldn't surprise me.  If that's the case, he may translate well to a smaller 15-minute role where he can go hard without worrying about burning out so much.

Not a very inspiring list of guys. Last draft at this time the list of players in for workouts included both of the Cs picks Scheierman and Watson.

Of this group Coward has a green room invite and other than him I suspect only Lanier, Broome and maybe Sanders are top 40 picks. This leads me to believe a trade of some sort is going to happen. Maybe they are going to trade up and are keeping those workouts under wraps or non-existent. More than likely is the option of moving off of the #28 for future assets in the event picks are needed to move off of salary.

maybe, perhaps, possibly, conceivably broome and coward might work out to be olly and rozier level.
