good news is nobody is as physical as orlando

better skilled? yes

not more physical tho

We always have to be the team to eliminate the thugs of the NBA ?..

Used to be the thugs of the league feared antagonizing the Celtics because they would be hit back twice as hard by the likes of Garnett, Perk, Parish, Bird, Kite, Ainge, Cowens, Silas.  This current group needs an enforcer. Red used to say he wanted instigators, not retaliators.

Grant Williams would have been your instigator.

I think the Cs would welcome playing the Knicks. They are soft.

They seemed it when they played us in the regular season.  But, against Detroit, they've been mucking it up.  I think both teams are being put through a grinder that may prepare them for Round 2.

This team doesn't need an instigator.  They've seemed to do fine the past two seasons without one. This team is tough.  Perfectly capable of dirtying it up if necessary.

I think ORL is a better team than many gave them credit for (including me).  They had a lot of injuries all season.  Right now they have Banchero and Wagner both playing well.  They had a nice run last season, then lost to CLE in 7.  This is a good series to prepare the Celtics for whoever they have to play.

I guess they have Tillman, but he hasn't shown that he's worthy of court time.

BOS: 2nd chance points + Pts off Turnovers = 28
ORL: 2nd chance points + Pts off Turnovers = 22

Take care of the ball and don't allow offensive rebounds and we will win vs. ORL (and probably every other team) every time.  ORL in particular can't beat us if we don't give them extra possessions, extra FGA.

Yeah, I really don't see an issue. Plus this series is over after tomorrow night anyways. I feel like there is a misconception floating out there that the Celtics are a finesse team.  Mostly based on their offensive style but this team is seasoned and hard-nosed and can easily physical it up.  You have guys like Horford & Jaylen who won't back down and get dirty if need be.  Hell, even Tatum gets in that mode sometimes. Then you just have the physical nature of White & Holiday defensively.  This is a tough, strong basketball team.   They're not backing down.

How was that not a foul? Is the league needing this.to go 6?

Why would the league need this to go 6 but not the other first round series? Lol. Massive respect for the Celtics and what they did this season coming off a title and three of there core players winning gold in the offseason but they simply aren?t going to repeat, this struggling against a Mickey Mouse franchise kinda confirms that

Lol good grief what an unrealistic and insane view.

This is almost assuredly a 5 game series against a top 2 defense that matches up pretty well with us, but, no, if we don't sweep them then we're not going to repeat. Crazy, especially given the injuries we're dealing with yet still likely having the gentleman's sweep.

Im super proud of this team and the season they?ve had after winning the title, super impressive. It?s not out of the realm of possibility that they repeat it?s just an insanely hard task and I?m not predicting that it will happen, the field is deeper and better and they?re struggling against the worst team in the entire field outside of maybe Miami. Yes they?re up 3-1 but this has been a bar fight, and no I?m not going to make the magic out to be better than they are. They stink and have 2 of their best players out for the season, they have 2 decent players and then absolutely nothing.

I'll say this, between the two teams (Orlando and New York) I do think Orlando has the best player (Banchero > Brunson) and a much better defense.

I'd like to think come next round, yeah NY can score a lot more but they are soft and poor defensively. Hopefully the change of pace and style sparks the C's. It's been a super annoying series but maybe it's not a bad thing to be exposed to this physicality and defense early to help us get more battle-tested in future rounds

But yeah, HAVE to end this tomorrow night. DO not go to a 6th game and risk more injuries/dirty play.

Holiday out, Jaylen questionable tomorrow

I don't deny Jrue may be dealing with a hamstring but I also wonder if they are just keeping him out and preserving him for the future rounds against teams who can actually score a lot. Orlando is physical and good defensively but can't score outside of Banchero/Wagner.

Hamstrings are really tricky.  Definitely not an injury you want to rush back or attempt to play through.  Every day of rest is a good thing there.
