Days before the NBA playoffs, the Nuggets dismissed Malone in a meeting today. Malone is the winningest coach in franchise history since being hired in 2015 ? and led the Nuggets to the 2023 NBA championship.

Seems very odd... right before the playoffs at that.

Seriously, what the hell?

If Malone wants to be an assistant / consultant for our playoff run, I'd hire him.

Unless there's some underlying scandal or falling out that we just haven't heard about yet, this is unbelievable to me.  Even more wild than the Jenkins firing in Memphis.

Denver's problem is depth, health, and imo a weak second and third option relative to other championship-hopeful rosters.  I wouldn't have had Malone anywhere near that list.

Full clean out: The Denver Nuggets are also firing general manager Calvin Booth, sources tell ESPN. Michael Malone and Booth both out today.

This one baffles me.

What in the world is going on this year with these last minute Coach firings? Is the idea to be able to start hiring a new coach immediately and compete on the market?

Quick! Offer them Jrue and some picks this offseason for Jokic and see if they bite!

The hell is in the water out west?  We've seen three franchises that had at least a passing chance at contention instead put a bullet in their own team in the second half of the year alone.  Two by firing solid-or-better coaches right before the start of the playoffs and one by trading a top-5 player at a discount despite - by their own admission - not even doing due diligence around the league to help set the price point.

I'm shocked. As someone else said, unless there's a scandal here, this is really bizarre.

This is going to be a gut punch to the team.  It makes no sense.  I do expect there is more to this, but what could the scandal be that would warrant cleaning house to this level at this point in time?

Wow, that is crazy.

The Nuggets problem has been depth, which is an ownership problem.

The Nuggets ownership group (Kroenke Family) being cheap and not willing to spend into the luxury tax has cost them any semblance of a competitive bench.

It seems like a bad look . Only 1 team can win the title. But I guess with Memphis doing it and now the Nuggets maybe this will be a new normal. I can?t even guess.
