If the Sixers are truly stuck with Embiid and George they are in a tough spot. I think they have the potential to still be a playoff team next year with McCain/Maxey/Top-6 pick and some other pieces like Oubre, Yabu, etc. and a free agent addition. But they are just straddled with Embiid and George's contracts and both guys are pretty much cashed (one to injury, the other to podcasting).

Champion = Kareem (6), MJ (5), B Russell (5), LeBron (4), Bird (3), Magic (3), Moses Malone (3) Duncan (2), Pettit (2), Steph (2), Giannis (2), Jokic (3), O Robertson, W Reed, D Cowens, W Unseld, B McAdoo, Olajuwon, Shaq, D Robinson, B Walton, Kobe, Cousy, Dirk, Durant, KG, Julius Erving

Finalist = K Malone (2), Barkley, Westbrook, Harden

Conference Finalist = S Nash (2), D Rose

Never made it to the Conference Finals = Embiid

So Embiid is the only one not to make it to at least the Conference Finals. Only Nash and D Rose failed to make it to the Finals. Only K Malone, Barkley, and Westbrook failed to win a title. So only 9 of the just under 70 MVP awards (~13%?) given out have gone to guys who haven't won a title. Only 4 to guys who haven't been to the Finals (~6%?). Only 1 to a guy who hasn't made the Conference Finals (~1.4%).

Oh wow that's crazy. So he's the only one out of about 70 MVPs  :o

He did run out of gas in that series against Boston two years ago. He had some awesome games especially Game 5 but then he and Harden just looked gassed the last 5 quarters (4th quarter of Game 6 + all Game 7), and then Tatum took over for good.

He looked smooth out there. He wasn't "elite" defensively but that's to be expected, but he looked solid on that end. More importantly, he made some shots and they just looked very smooth. I'll add too, he dove for a loose ball which shows he hustles too.

He has a ways to go but honestly, maybe not a bad Hauser replacement down the road if we can't keep him (or even just a Hauser 2.0 lol)

Sixers are in a really bad place.  Man, that roster plus the uncertainty down the road with Embiid & George.  It's going to be exacerbated this off-season when their lottery pick ends up with OKC.

Just a disaster.

Yeah the only bright spot on the roster at the moment is Maxey.

He also took a couple of charges, moved his feet, made some sharp passes, and rebounded well.  He also has a very quick release.

This is the first game in the NBA where he has looked like an actual prospect. He's been doing well in Maine, but had seemed completely overwhelmed in the NBA until last night.
