Wow.  I guess I'm not getting resale tickets next year.  Base cost is $262 per ticket for upper half of the balcony?  Am I reading that right?

Just curious.  Did you talk to your rep yet about why it jumped so much?  I've seen increases in the 20s/30s before but 67% is insane.

Conspiratorial - because they're trying to sell the team and boost expected incomings in a PowerPoint somewhere?

I know I've been told in the past that part of the pricing is based on data they get from the resale market.  Some sections in the Garden run much hotter than others and that factors into the increases.

I mean, it makes sense.  If Ace Ticket can take a $150 ticket and sell it for $325, why wouldn't the Celts try to recoup that extra profit for themselves?

It just sucks that a lot of fans are going to be priced out of the market completely.

It's gonna absolutely suck for STMs when this team goes into the next rebuild whenever that may be.  The pricing the past 5 years or so has gotten wild.

That makes sense. I haven't watched the Celtics in person for over a decade now so this is largely academic to me, but the at-home viewing experience is so much better I can't even imagine trying to go to a game now before thinking about the cost.

I'm Loge 9, Row 1, Seats 5,6 (aisle). My tickets went from $180 to $205 per ticket. That increase above for Action is beyond ridiculous.

I went through the last rebuild and ticket prices came down for a few years in a row before starting their way back up. But the base that they're coming down from is much higher than it was in the 2013-14 season. The wait list is also a heck of a lot longer.

I'm a half-season STM in Loge 8, Row 11. This season, my 22-game plan cost $6,820. Next season, for 21 games, the price will be $7,560.

Let me give you all the inside scoop. I connected with my rep and was informed that pricing now scales with attendance..if you aren't attending a lot they bumped up your price more than others. My 2 seats are now 18k for next season. I am officially not renewing even though they offered. They told me this is how they are pricing now. The best part? This season I had a few games that didn't sell period, several sold at a loss and when looking at seats up for sale - the number of seats that aren't being resold has increased dramatically ( 9+ in my loge) meaning their retention is going down. I certainly hope those wait-list folks are ready to pay 9-10k per seat per season in loge because I'm no longer doing so.

I?ll take a heaping of salt. While the Celtics have implemented rules to ?encourage? STMs to go to more games, a system of surreptitiously punishing those who don?t would be inconsistent with such a goal. If you are going to raise prices to get people to go to more games, you?d want them to know.

The Celtics raise prices for one reason: because they can. They know exactly how much people are reselling tickets for and want to capture as much of the difference as they can. And who could blame them? Besides, STMs don?t generate as much revenue as one-timers. STMs don?t need to buy souvenirs, eat at the game or generate Ticketmaster fees. STMs generate goodwill for the team and a reliable source of revenue, even if they?re not the most profitable customers.

It seems to me that the Redditor either misinterpreted information from their rep or was just p---ed about how much their tickets went up. I don?t know of any reason to believe that the Celtics have moved away from the Cohort/Location combination that they?ve always used. And while I can?t speak for everyone, my ticket prices have been round numbers (ending in either a -5 or a -0) for about a decade now. That doesn?t happen by accident.

One other note, regarding the resale comments: While not everyone has the same resale experience, I have data going back six years on my own resales (and anecdotal information from before that, since I can?t find those records). Tickets this year are selling faster and for higher premiums than they have in any past year. Again, I?m not trying to start a debate about resale pricing, but the Redditor?s comments about resale are inconsistent with what I?ve seen.
