Just saw where Memphis dumped Smart on the Wizards for next to nothing. I would not be surprised if there is a buyout.

They cant sign anybody who made more than 12.8 million this year in a buyout.

Also I would very much doubt Smart is bought out. The Wiz could use him this summer in a trade to take on other bad salary for draft picks, or just hope he rebuilds his value.

He?ll be on the last year of his extension, $21M i think, next year. The earliest he can come back to Boston, barring any crazy trade, would be in 2027 when he becomes a free agent. By then he?ll be 32/33 yrs old. He can be a vet bench piece and a feel good ?welcome back? signing. I can?t believe how fast he declined. Good on Brad for giving him a nice extension while he was still in Boston. I see him at most as a vet minimum guy moving forward.
